Philips produces a variety of MP3 players that differ in capacity and design. All of the Philips MP3 players have one thing in common, however: the way that you manage files on the MP3 player. All Philips MP3 players appear as USB mass storage devices when connected to your computer. This means that you can delete files off of your Philips MP3 player using Windows Explorer, much like you would remove a file off of a USB drive.
To delete them, follow this instructions:
1)Connect your Philips MP3 player to your computer using the USB cable provided with your device. 2)Find your Philips MP3 player in Windows Explorer by clicking "Start" and then "My Computer." You should see your device under the section labeled "Devices with Removable Storage." 3)Double-click on your Philips MP3 player to view the files stored on the MP3 player. 4)Navigate to the folder that contains the files you want to remove. Your files are organized based on the type of file. For example, open the "Music" folder to delete music files. 5)Right-click on a file you want to delete and select "Delete." Click "Yes" when asked if you are sure you want to delete the file. 6)Eject the Philips MP3 player before disconnecting it. Click the "USB Mass Storage" icon in the system tray and select "Safely Remove Hardware." The system tray is in the lower-right corner of the screen.

You don't need Windows Media Player to put music on your device. I
created a tutorial that should help you. Please post a comment if you
need further assistance.
How to load an MP3 player without using Windows Media Player.
First, allow me to clarify a few things so that there is less confusion:
When you connect an mp3 player to a computer, you will
not be able to use it until it's
disconnected. In other words, the only thing you should do while the
player is plugged into the computer is adding or deleting files. You
can't use the buttons on the player while it's communicating with the
computer, and as long as it's connected to the USB port, it's
communicating.
Ok, let's get started!
Step 1
Connect the player to your USB port using the cable that came with it.
(NOTE):
If the player has a male USB connector already on it, connect the
player directly into the computer without using the cable. In other
words, only use a cable if you have to.
Step 2
Click
the "Start" button or press the key on the keyboard that has the
Windows logo, and go to My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Vista).
Step 3
Locate your MP3 player on this screen.
(NOTE): It should show up under Devices with Removable Storage OR
as a device under "Other." Most importantly, it should show up on this
screen as something! When the player is connected, you should have
something on this screen (usually an icon of some sort) that represents
the player. This lets you know that the unit is ready to receive files
because it's being recognized by your computer.
Do not close this window before going to the next step. If you want it out of the way, just minimize it.
Step 4
Locate and open the folder that contains your music files.
Step 5
Using the mouse, copy one or more files. (Right mouse click on file, then left mouse click on copy)
Step 6
Go back to the "My Computer" or "Computer" screen, right mouse click on the icon representing the player, then, left
mouse
click on paste. You should see a small status bar appear showing the
file(s) being copied from your music folder to the player.
Step 7
Click on the Safe to Remove icon found in your system tray and disconnect the player.
And that's it! If you need additional assistance, I will help in any way that I can.
It could be the USB cable or the USB port of the computer or it cold be the device itself. Try connecting the MP3 player into different USB ports of the computer. You might want to connect it into different computer aswell.
Try using another USB cable. If you get the same problem, contact the manufacturer for possible firmware upgrade.
