This set is only 3 years old. last night it started showing ghost images and the color contrast on close-ups is grainy and a lot of red shows through. any thoughts on this? what about cost to repair? is it worth it?

This would well be worth fixing. At most your looking at $250 to replace some IC's on the circuit board. Possibly convergance board.

WD 73835 has ghosting images during dark or red scenes

Make sure your contrast isn't set too high. Most ghosting is caused by either contrast, brightness or tint issues. Try adjusting these settings. Also check if there is a Dynamic contrast setting for your TV as well as this can cause ghosting also.

The TV picture shows a double image like "ghosting"?

Ghosting or blurring vision happens due to a faulty video processing board. It may be due to faulty T-con board (BN81-01308A) or a main board ( BN94-01199B ). However, you'll need to check the wiring on both of these boards. Before this I'll suggest you to callibrate the TV by following these settings--

Contrast: 85
Brightness: 46
Color: 56
Tint: G50 / R50
Sharpness: 15
Backlight: 5

Black Adjust: low
Dynamic Contrast: low
Gamma: 1

If this doesn't resolve the issue then turn off and unplug the TV for 4-5 hours and check.

We are getting ghost images and the color is not correct

I have red concave lines going across the screen, plus wording appears double like a ghosting effect, this is ongoing from the time the tv is turned on until it is turned off. This started 3 days ago. Is it time for a new tv, its 9 or 10 yrs old now.

Epson C1900 "ghost " images

Sounds like the transfer roller or the fuser unit may be faulty. Look at the fuser to see if the roller surfaces are dirty. If so, replace the fuser.

Red ghosting on images that are not closeup

1. Power off -- let bulb cool.
2. Display - 5 - VOL+ - Power (in quick sequence) to display service menu.
3. Go into the user menu and set auto revision back to auto.
4. Put an image on the screen that shows the problem. I always found the edges of a 4:3 aspect ratio signal displayed the ghosting very well on my set.
5. Use 2 to scroll through the categories to find D GM TG
6. Use 1 to scroll through items in D GM TG to find V POS D
7. Write down current value.
9. Use 3 and 6 to change the value to minimize the ghosting. You should only need to move it up or down a value or two.
10. Press Mute - Enter to save the changes.
11. Power off and let the bulb cool.
