If you are just upgrading ram, there will be no need to disassemble the whole machine, there should be a cover on the bottom of the machine that you will need to take off before you get access to the ram.


before you do this, make sure your machine is totally switched off, and the battery pack is removed,

try to get a service manual first before you attempt any upgrade

I can't find the the hotkey utility application from the sony web site.model is VGN-NR160E. Tks !
To enable the Function keys in the Computer, it is required to install VAIO Event Services. In older Computers, the application was called Hotkey Utility and in the newer Models, VAIO Event Services is used to enable the Function keys. You can download the VAIO Event Services (Notebook Utility) from the link below.

turn the laptop upside down ...remove a partial plastic cover attached by a screw on its edge ( there is a small sign showing the hard drive usually) after taking the cover of plastic away the hard disk is visible . pull it gently aside (sideway)
and replace it with the new one.
