Samsung HL-T5687S Television Logo
Posted on Sep 26, 2009

I have a Samsung HL-T-5687SA with a blue-green picture. Can't change with tv menu options. Put color DVD in player and picture doesn't change. TV is connected to Dish HD Satellite. I was told the DLP engine was problem, this cost about $900.00 without installation. Is this the only solution?

Check if it has a scrambled image on all sources ie - DVD- VCR - cable/satellite box. Since the PIP is normal it sounds like the signal source is bad.

OK no problem here. I can help. First reconnect the DVD Player to the tv using the Compoment cables. Match Green to Green,Red to Red and Blue to Blue.. If this is done correctly then you will have normal looking picture. If the picture looks like it is missing the RED color then switch both Red cables. The pix should look normal. Then connect the RED and White audio cables to the audio inputs . Now the Pinkish color is a result of the DVD Player not being set to the "Progressive" setting in the DVD Player Menu. It will help to connect a set of COMPOSITE cables from the DVD Player to the TV's Composite Input. Those are the Yellow,Red and White inputs on both the tv and the DVD Player. This will allow you to see the DVD player menu in case you cannot see the menu while in the Component input. The Pinkish picture should go to a Normal picture.

Problem with HL-R6167W green vertical lines

You need to do an aggressive reset on the TV. This solved problem completely for me. You must unplug the TV when it is on. Repeat this several times until the TV is jolted back into the factory default settings. The issue is actually with the programming I believe. The clue was that the display worked 100% perfect in HDMI mode, and the problem only existed in the cable setting, no matter if wires were attached or not.

Again, do an aggressive reset to the TV by unplugging it several times while it is on. It may not register the reset at first because after all, the actual problem is a programming issue and it's having trouble recognizing commands in the first place.

Good luck!!

TV makes humming noise, lamp light is blinking, does not turn on

Your color wheel needs to be changed. Mine just did the same thing. I changed mine, and the buzzing sound went away, however now my picture washes out with light or yellow colors. The darks look green and purple also.

Dvd only playing in black and white

Make sure that you connect all of these connections to the right colored cables.

It seems like you only have the green cable connected. Go back and connect the red and blue for both the tv and dvd.

Black and white picture

Try going into player's menu, and set video out or TV type to NTSC.
It might have switched to PAL, or disc is PAL and player is set to any.

Dvd showing in black and white

I'm assuming you're using the yellow ended video cable and two audio cables hooked up to your TV to display the signal. If so, I would just make sure they are connected in the correct output jacks on your dvd player and that they match up with the input jacks on your TV. If so, then I'd try another DVD player to see if that one plays OK.
