Display only stays constantly visible at lowest illumination setting. Raising the illumination (Fn + up arrow) causes the display to disappear (the higher the setting the shorter the time span to disappear). When the display has gone, if I close the lid and re-open, the display will re-appear for a short time.

If the display screen on your Boss MR1308UAB car stereo is completely black and you're unable to find a control setting for brightness, there may be a few possible causes and solutions to consider:
Check the backlight setting: Some car stereos have a separate setting to control the backlight or illumination of the display screen. Look for an "Illumination" or "Backlight" setting in the main menu or settings menu of the stereo. Adjust the setting to ensure that the backlight is turned on and set to an appropriate level.
Check the dimmer setting: Many car stereos have a dimmer function that adjusts the brightness of the display screen based on the ambient light conditions. Check if the dimmer setting is enabled and set to an appropriate level. If the dimmer is set to its lowest level or turned off, the display screen may appear black. Adjust the dimmer setting to increase the brightness.
Verify the connection: Ensure that the wiring connections between the car stereo and the vehicle's electrical system are secure. A loose or faulty connection could cause the display screen to appear black. Double-check the wiring harness and connections to make sure they are properly plugged in.
Reset the stereo: Try performing a system reset on the car stereo. This can help to clear any temporary glitches or issues that may be affecting the display screen. Refer to the user manual for instructions on how to perform a reset specific to your model.

I dont believe so Sir/madam, my advice would be to configure the settings in order to make them default to connect. That way you should be able to skip the hastle.
Try uninstalling the drivers from the device manager, then do a hardware search. It will automatically find the touch pad and reinstall the drivers. If this doesn't work, then check the connector under the keyboard. Disconnect it and reconnect it, they sometimes work loose. If these don't correct the problem, then you have a faulty touch pad and you'll have to replace it.
go to the manufacturers website for your laptop and look for the Support Tab or menu.. click on it and look for Driver Downloads or similar.. then Download all Vista compatable drivers available..
Assuming that the laptop is hooked up to the projection TV using the correct cables or connectors and still no video display on the TV, perhaps you need to lower down the laptops screen resolution first using your laptop's screen display before pressing the Fn + F? key.
To lower the screen resolution, right click on any clear area of your desktop, select Properties. click on the Settings tab, move cursor of Screen resolution to farthest left, Apply, Color Quality to lowest, Apply. Additionally, click on the Advanced button, Monitor tab, select lowest Screen refresh rate.
Hope that this be of some help. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.
