Carousel eats bulbs. second bulb is newly purchased. i have another one however need to know if 20 minutes per bulb is the norm? can there be an electrical surge killing these bulbs?

You didn't identify what model projector you have, but 2 things give REALLY short lamp life: 1. A "bump" when the lamp is illuminated and 2. contact resistance.
Chances are it is contact resistance, and you should replace the lamp socket. If you want to do it yourself, you can get parts from a factory-trained dealer or you can have them make the repair. Typically a lamp (depending on the style) should last between 15 and 35 hours of actual run time.

I have error H 2, what to do?

This error indicates: H2-0 Fusing unit temperature error

Unless you are technically capable, you will want to have a qualified technician diagnose and repair.

If you want to try and diagnose it yourself, follow these directions.
You have to reset fuser errors with simulation 14. Push P * C * then 14 then Start (the button you use to make copies) and it should reset the code. If not then replace the fuser.
SM 5-1 should turn the lamp on. If lamp blinks on and off it is the thermistor, if it does not it is the lamp, but check the contacts on the lamp/fuser -- they have been known to erode.
Also check thermal fuse, if defective replace
