Need to reprogram the television channels without the remote. i have a broksonic tv/vcr combo ctsgt-8118cttc.

is the remote for the TV?

You have to search for channels with the menu. If there is a menu button on the TV, you are in business. If not, you can try one of the more sophisticated universal remotes, but most do not run the menu functions...

Assuming you have changed the batteries, you might try blowing around the edges of the keys with "canned air" spray.
Most likely you can go to a drug store and buy a "universal" remote that will serve as a cheap replacement.
NOTE WELL: check out the "universal" remote's labeling and online to make sure it is compatible with your set BEFORE buying.

Try to press buttons simultaneosly for a few seconds to get to the menu, i.e. volume up and down together, channel down/up together etc etc

Try pushing the volume buttons in the middle so that you are mashing both the up and down button, your menu should appear. then you can use the channel buttons for moving up and down.
