I have a Dell Inspiron 8500 with a bad video card.So I replaced it with a NVIDIAGeForce FX Go5200 video card from a Dell Inspiron 8600.I'm not sure what type the old one is.I can't get the driver to turn on.

Go to NVIDIA WEB site to download the FX Go5200 video driver. Make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version that matches the Windows version that is installed on the computer.

hello, when the screen changes colors or stays in one color it is mostly cause of a video card problem. Does this happens only when overheated, then maybe you can blow the cpu-video card heatsink and use a base with a fan to avoid overheating. If the screen is white all the time then maybe only a 2nd monitor will help understand if this is a problem of the video card or the screen.
You need to open up your pc tower and insert it into an open slot. Do this with the computer turned off and UNPLUGGED. Once installed, turn you computer on, but still plug monitor into your old video card. Assuming you're using XP or Vista? It should detect your new card and install the drivers automatically. If not, you need to install on your own. Use the CD that came with the card, if you got one. Or you can download the driver here: http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/nvidia-geforce-fx-5200.html
Then turn off computer, plug monitor into new video card, then start computer.
