1 vertical line going down the notebook LCD

I have a notebook with a line going vertically down the LCD. I can change the color of the line from red to yellow to totally gone if I kind of twist the monitor from the top right corner. I have hooked it up to an external monitor and there is no line. I have also booted into safe mode and the line is still there on the notebook. I think there might be a short in the wiring somewhere, any ideas out there??? vertical lines on lcd. increasing

Some of the many connections to the TFT screen panel matrix itself have have either been damaged or have decayed. These tiny connections are bonded along the edges of panel and are not viably serviceable. The most common causes are impact, stress (twisting) and condensation/moisture ingress. A replacement screen panel is needed.

Hello,

IF YOU HAVE A SOLID BLACK LINE RUNNING VERTICALLY THEN YOU HAVE A FAULTY MATRIX INVERTER. IF CENTRAL THE MAIN VERTICAL INVERTER NEEDS CHANGED. LEFT = LEFT VERTICAL INVERTER RIGHT=RIGHT.........

ANOTHER WAY TO GET THIS FAULT IS WORN OR DAMAGED RIBBON/PLASTIC GOING FROM THE SCREEN MATRIX TO THE INVERTER

Hope this will help out.....

Hello,

On all the plasma tvs there are control boards on the lower part of the screen that control the vertical images. If one of the chips on one of the boards fail, have a bad connection, or no ground it will result in a thick black line down the screen.

Multi color vertical lines on my R40 monitor

this usually means that the display is broken. i'm sorry to inform that this can only be repaired by replacing the LCD module, which costs quite a lot of money (an estimated 60% of the price for a brand new laptop)

Reset the video card, and if that doesn't work it sounds like the card is dying. How old is the card?

Coloured vertical lines down lcd screen

To isolate the issue, i strongly recommend to connect the notebook to the external monitor by VGA port which had BLUE colored on the notebook. So that if it is normal then you need to confirm the issue is with the LCD display.
