Keeps telling me to insert smart chip

The memory card might not have clicked into the slot , so remove and check the direction youhave inserted the micro sd card. Remove and push it to CLICK on to the latch , Now it mut be detected to open the files present.

turn off your phone reinsert sim and battery . If problem persists try with other sim then also problem persists then go service centre for its repair

SIM has probably gone bad ..att will replace it for free

Believe it or not, after having the same problem "re-insert cassette" and "reattach power source", and after talking to Sony and them telling me it would be $111.00 to repair, I hit mine with the palm of my hand twice on each side and twice on the back by the battery and it actually worked--haha Go Figure!!

You are placing the smart chip on top of the smart chip holder. It's a little metal square where the smart chip should go. Lift up the metal square and place the smart chip underneath. I had to go to my local AT&T dealer to figure this out.

Use XS++

Switch off your phone, remove then reinsert the battery, do not turn it on.

In XS++, click Connect.

Hold C on your phone and then insert the USB cable.

Once connected (you should get some information about your phone when it's connected), click GDFS at the bottom.

Then click Phone Lock, depending on your phones hardware platform, it will either tell you what the code is, or reset it to 0000.

Once done, click Settings at the bottom, then Disconnect.

Once disconnected, unplug the USB cable, remove then reinsert the battery, then switch on.

The first thing to try is cleaning the contacts for the smart chip, on the phone and the chip itself. Use a little rubbing alcohol on cotton buds and be careful you don't bend the contacts in the phone. If that doesn't remedy the problem, get your service provider to give you a new chip. They should be willing to give you one for free. If that doesn't fix it, then it is probably a phone problem. You may go to your service provider or any nearest mobile phone repair shop to have it fixed. You may also have the phone replaced if your budget allows it.

You can remove the smart chip and try charging the battery and wait for some minutes and reinsert it to the slot. If that doesn't help you can contact customer service at att.com/support to chat live with a customer representative.

You have to insert the smart card all the way in on these phones. You can use a pen cap or something to push it all the way in there until it goes all the way in and click and stays there. Then it will not say " insert smart chip" anymore.
