32 in ge tv doesn't turn on

I have a 32inch GE TV and it doesn't turn on. when you press power either on the remote or the actual tv set, it makes the noise to indicate that it's turning on but no screen comes light. also, it repeats this process 3 times every single time you press the power button. is there a way to fix this or should i consider getting a new tv. thanks

Need code setting for ge universal remote control 24993 for sony tv

Note: most remotes allow you to find the code by manually turning the TV (or other device) on first, then press the appropriate button (cable, DVD, surround, etc) then setting the the remote in the "program" mode, then keep pushing the "off/power" button until the TV (or other device) turns off, at that point the code is set.

GE Universal remote controls - instructionsHow to Program a GE Universal Remote Control

Programming a GE/Jasco Universal Remote Control is simple, requires only a few simple steps. You need to know the code of device you are programming into the remote. See the GE remote control codes page for3 digit or 4 digit GE remotes.
How to enter codes manually:

Step 1: Turn on the device (VCR, DVD, TV, Satellite receiver etc.) you wish to program.

Step 2: Press and hold the "CODE SEARCH" or "SETUP" button on the remote until the indicator light turns on, then release.

Step 3: Press and release the button for the device you are programming (VCR, DVD, TV etc.). For AUX, press AUX button, then the device button you are assigning to AUX. The indicator light will blink then remain lit.

Step 4: Enter the three-digit or four-digit code (depending on your GE remote model) for your device using the number buttons. After your code is entered the indicator light will turn off.

Step 5: Aim the remote at the device you want to control and press the POWER button. Your device should turn off. If your equipment does not respond to the first code listed in the documentation, repeat steps with the next code. If the device responds correctly to other functions like Volume or Program up/down, no further programming is required.

If you can't find a working code for your device or your brand is not listed try the "Code Search" method described below.
The CODE SEARCH function

Step 1: Turn on the equipment you wish to program.

Step 2: Press and hold "CODE SEARCH" or "SETUP" until the light turns on, then release.

Step 3: Press and release the button for the device you are programming (VCR, DVD, TV etc.). The indicator light will blink once, then remain lit. For AUX, press AUX then the device button you are assigning to AUX.

Step 4: Press and release the "POWER" button until your device turns off. Wait at least two seconds between each time you press "POWER". Note that you may have to press "POWER" up to 250 times!

Step 5: When your device turns off press the "ENTER" or "SAVE" button. The indicator light will turn off. Check other functions to see if your code is correct.
The SLEEP feature

Some GE remote controls like the RM94902, RM94904 or RM94905 have a handy "sleep feature" enabling you to turn off your TV after a preprogrammed time interval of 1 to 99 minutes. To use the sleep feature follow these steps:

1: Press and hold the "SLEEP" button until the indicator light turns on.

2: Enter the time interval in minutes using the numerical keypad. (for minutes from 1 to 9 press 0 before the actual number).

3: Leave the remote aimed at the television set.

To turn off the sleep feature, press and hold "SLEEP" until the indicator light blinks or press the "POWER" button to turn off the TV.

I have a ge universal remote and a panasonic tv but i dont have the directions on how to program it or what the codes are to set it up. i need step by step instructions.please help

There are two types of GE universal remotes. Does your remote use the 4-digit code or the 3-digit code?

These codes listed below are not for combination TVs (TV/VCR, or TV/DVD). If you have a combination tv, see the appropriate code list here: http://www.jascoproducts.com/support/universal-remote-codes.asp .

The 3 digit codes for Panasonic TVs are 003, 054, 055, 062, 070, 148, 149, 170, 171, 374, 381, 437 . If you have an LCD or Plasma Panasonic only try 170.

The 4 digit codes to try for Panasonic TVs are 1182, 0171, 0148, 0054, 0170, 0062, 0374, 0381, 0437, 0950, 0003, 0070 .

Next to program the remote: Turn on the TV manually. Press and hold the Code Search or Setup button (depending on your remote). Hold the button until the indicator light comes on and then release it. Then press and release the TV button. Type in the first code for your remote and TV combination. The indicator light should go off. Then point the remote at the TV and see if the TV turns off. If it doesn't, repeat the above steps. Once you have a code that seems to work, check if the remote controls all of the functions that you need (based on the available buttons on the remote). If you have a code that turns off the TV but doesn't control other functions, continue trying other codes.

There is an option to search through all of the codes of the remote to program the remote. Press and hold the Code Search or Setup button. Release the button when the indicator light comes on. Then press and release the TV button. Now press and release the Power button on the remote repeatedly and wait until the TV turns off. Do this slowly (pressing the Power button every 2 seconds). When the TV turns off, press Enter on the remote to save the code. Then test the remote. If the remote doesn't control all the functions of the TV that you want it to, then repeat the search.

Please note that the codes in most universal remotes are limited to those for devices released 6 months or more before the remote was programmed. If your remote is older than your TV, then you may need a new remote.

I hope this helps.

I have a ge universal remote and have a toshiba tv dont know codes and how to programe it could you please help?

Which GE universal remote do you have? Does the remote use a 3-digit or a 4-digit code? To program most GE remotes for a TV, turn on the TV. Then press and hold the Code Search or Setup button until the indicator light comes on. Then press and release the TV button. Enter the first code available for your device. The indicator light should go off then check if the remote controls the functions of the TV. Repeat the above steps if the code doesn't work or doesn't control all the features of your TV.

The manuals and code lists for GE remotes are here: http://www.jascoproducts.com/support/universal-remote-codes.asp .

Toshiba 4-digit TV codes are: 0159 0178 0109 0120 0181
.............0105 0049 0095 0170 0260 0358
.............0394 0924 0012 0095 0117 0141
The 3-digit codes are 170, 181 or 641 for Toshiba HDTVs.

Please note that the remote probably only has codes for devices that were released 6 months or more before the remote was programmed. If your TV is newer than your GE universal remote, you may need a newer remote.

I hope this helps.
