Starting several months ago the exhaust blower makes a constant, steady racket. Local dealer says it is probably fan blades fouled with carbon (as it is in the exhaust stream) or maybe a bad bearing. Being a cheapskate I would like to try to fix it myself. Owners literature is long gone. Does anyone have experience with this problem, and know where I can get schematic and/or parts? If it is really just carbon I should only need gaskets.
I have a laser 72. Several years ago, it began making a racket sounded like the squirral cage fan was hitting something. The only way I found to fix the problem was to remove the blower assembly case and place a small, about 1" long, piece of rubber tubing between the bottom of the motor and the case. This pushed up slightly on the motor which releived the fan. Randy
The combustion blower sucks in clean air so it has no place in the exhaust stream. hence no carbon build up. the blades of it look like a vacuum disk on a vacuum cleaner. if the fan was recently rebuilt, make sure of the placement of the bushings. if one is misplaced the fan will rub on its housing and make all kinds of racket.
