All solutions point to having to contact the drive manufacturer or laptop manufacturer. There is good explanation in the Tom's Hardware thread at the end, about a 'master password' ...
You need access to a computer with Internet access so you can download a Hard disk password unlock program. HARD DRIVE PASSWORD UNLOCKING - Purchase http://www.hddunlock.com/purchase/ A-FF HDD Unlock Wizard (HDD Password unlocking - Free) http://www.hddunlock.com/download/
LOL, you're out of luck. If you're smart enough to set the hard disk password, you should be smart enough to remember it. 99% of the computers that have a password lock on the hard drive are stolen computers. The original owner put the lock on to keep thieves from getting to sensitive data. The owner could have set the password remotely once the computer is stolen.
The computer is useless to you. The only way the password can be broken is if the original owner who put it on, takes it off? Even if you take the hard drive out of the computer, it can never be used again as long as it has a password lock on it.
you have a virus run a anti virus program; microsoft has free anti virus soft ware called security essentials....i use it and have had good results they also have a free malware scan you can download and run.
This is a password setting that's been applied to this hard drive. It cannot be bypased as far as I have known. Maybe a hacker could get around it but it was designed not to allow this to happen. If you don't have the password you'll have to reformat the drive reinstall the operating system.
It sounds to me that someone has passworded the hard drive. If you do not know the password, there is no way to access the hard drive. The two options in this case are get the password from whoever put it on or uy a new harddrive. People usually password their harddrive in case it is stolen or lost, then nobody can read thei data or use their computer.
