10 meter portable

This is a 10 meter Amateur Radio. You need a license to operate it. From my research it doesn't do CB Radio Frequencies.

best way is to leave the radio in piece and obtain a linear amplifier to do the job a 10 meter ham radio amplifier will do nicely but you must re-tune it for the 27 mhz band 10 meter band is 28 mhz.
RF amps work best using side-band mode.

if a mod has been done to the cobra 29 (all 29,s)the light will come on just find vr6 audio the radio as it comes on adjust vr6 untill it goes away,,,,always trust your watt meter(s.w.r scale)over the flashing light its really easy to do it beats paying a shop $10-$15

This is a tough question with many variables power, antenna, weather, terain, other radio traffic and interference on channel and reciever sensitivity.
The answer/guess roughly 2-8 miles depending on best and worse conditions.
This is one of your lower end cb radios but has a good receive sensitivity of the money.

Be aware that most cb radios that Truckers talk on are actually 10 meter "export radios" that are illegal by FCC standards. They put out far more than the legal 4 watts that radios sold in the US as cb radios do. This is not to say that your typical cb is not modifiable to high rf power levels but not to the degree that the exports are.

You do set this up like a regular CB. The meters refers to how long the waves are. CB is 11 meters. So its very close. The antenna woud be tuneds slightly shorter. Use the SWR meter in the radio to calibrate just like you would a normal cb.

Now for the ABCDEF knob. each letter is 40 channels in the band. So A would be 1 - 40 channels, then B would be the next 1 - 40 channel frequencies. You use the frequency counter in the radio(providing that model has one) to tell what channel you are on.

Now for AM and FM. this is the type of modulation you are using for transmit and receive.

CB transmits on AM or SSB. Amplitude modulation or Single side band. Most CB radios only have AM. But some also have SSB. None will have FM.

FM is frequency modulation.

10 meter radios can have AM FM SSB and DSB depending on the model and options it comes with.

So your radio has 6 ranges for freqency. each is 40 or 50 channesl. Not sure what model you have. If it has 40 then you have 240 channel freqencies.

with AM and FM, you double that, because you can talk on AM or FM on all the channels. If you are on AM and some one transmits on FM unless they are really close, you will not hear them at all, but if you do with will just be garbbled noise.

Also Am and FM both work a little different with range etc.

Now, you may be able to talk on the CB channels as well. Cb starts at 26.965 MHz and ends at 27.405 MHz. The channels are all .010 MHz appart.

First off, the 200 GTL DX is a 10 meter radio. Running it on 11 meters (CB) is illegal, as it is not FCC type accepted. If you go below 26.965 mhz, you are outside of the 11 meter band, and operating illegally.12 meters does not start until 24.930, so ultimately, the freq's between 24.930 and 26.965 mhz are restricted even to a licensed amateur radio operator.

The DX 45mp is a 10 meter radio meaning you need a license to use any other band other than the normal 1- 40 cb channels, its capable of going beyond the normal cb range.Ask if it has been converted to 11 meter. Channel E should be the normal if it has been converted from 10 meter to 11 meter. Im sure its been converted if its been used for a mobile cb application. Normal cb band is called 11 meter 26.965 mhz to 27.405 thats 1- 40 . Your not supposed to talk on the other bands unless you have an amature radio license but everyone does anyway . I have several galaxys and by far in my opinion are the best on the market. Since the RCI 6900 is a 10 meter ham radio, and not desogned for the 11 meter band, when you had it modified, you also expanded the PLL chip past it's normal use. 10 Meter radios are not designed for CB use ( and of course this is also illegal ) so the PLL does drift. There is no real fix on this problem. Sorry
