Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

SOURCE: Photos can't be downloaded to iphoto as per usual.

Download the pics to a folder you create on your desktop and then import them to iPhoto from there.

We cannot get our images off of the Nikon Coolpix S570. I have a Mac (OS 10.4.11) - am linking with the USB standard cable that comes with the camera. The Mac can see the Camera in devices (about this...

I am not sure if I can help but what I would suggest is first of all disconnect the camera from the mac and then if you have iphoto go to preferences and make sure that iphoto is the application that is activated when the camera is plugged in. Then close the preferences. Now connect the camera to your mac. If you do not have iphoto you can use image capture which is in the applications folder. Hope this helps.

Does this camera work with macs OS X 10.5. I am able to download picts into iPhoto, but they won't stay there, they disappear. I have kodak c813 easy share.

When you connect your camera to your mac, iPhoto may open up and display the photos from your camera on screen (look to see that the camera is shown in the lefthand sidebar in iPhoto). However, the photos are not stored on your computer until to click 'Import'. After import, your photos are copied into the 'iPhoto Library' and now stored on your mac.To find them click on 'Events' or 'Photos' from the Library menu on the left sidebar.
If you are still having trouble copying your photos from your camera. Try using the 'Image Capture' app in the Applications folder to transfer photos from a camera.

When i connect my flip cam to my macbook pro, iphoto opens. I do not see FlipShare.

First of all when iphoto opens go to preferences under the iphoto drop down menu at the bottom of the menu screen will be the connecting camera opens and it will currently be "iphoto" change this to "no application". Then if you go to this webpage it will tell you how to use the flipshare application http://www.totalapps.net/apps/flip-video/ Hope this helps.

My mac wont recognize my Fuji Film camera.

Looks like you may need to use a specific application to see the photos on the camera.
Try using Image Capture and iPhoto (for me it worked in Image Capture after changing the iPhoto preferences to always open Image Capture when camera connected - go figure).

Camera not connecting to Apple OSX

O.K. I just answered this and accidentally closed the screen before sending but I'll just type it again...... on mac computers simply plugging in a camera will not necessarily do anything you must have an application in place to use that device such as iphoto which comes in ilife a pre installed software since around 2005 on new macs also on mac os x in the applications folder is a application called image capture you can simply open either of them then plug the camera in and it should be ready for import although on the older iphoto it could take a minute also in iphoto if you select the iphoto drop down menu at the top left of the screen and select preferences or press the "apple" and "," key at the same time (that will also open the preference window) select the general tab at the top left and look near the bottom where it says "connecting camera opens" in the drop down box next to it select iphoto then close the window with the little red ball at the upper left and you should be all set
But if all else fails you can download the software here http://support.nikontech.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61
