Case tractor i have a 1959 case tractor it is a model 431 triple range it turns over good but wont start does any one have a clue where i can start it is getting white smoke out of the exhaust when it turns over if that helps

It looks like years between 1959-1960 Good luck on price. That will range based on condition.

What have you changed?? What model lawn mower is it? Is it a riding lawn mower or a push lawn mower? Does it turn over(engine turning with the starter), or does it do nothing when you turn the key over? I have serviced cub cadets for almost 20 years, from the very first model(1959) to present, and i own 13 different tractors myself. if anyone can help you, i should be able too. i just need more info about the unit and its problems. i look forward to helping you.... -Brian-

that would be the clue that the switch is bad if you have to start it that way i would replace the keyed switch...good luck

This is not always the case but on Briggs and Stratton it may be time to check the valves for adjusting. Take off the cover and check for a gap of .005 . If the exaust valve is loose it will not allow the engine to relieve combustion to start. In other words the engine stays under load of compression and can't turn. In my shop I see this all the time . If all electrical checks out try this next

I actually had the same problem with my tractor and it turned out to be that I had to run a second ground wire (ground to a separate point) that forces the coil to ground). My suggestion is to remove the flywheel cover and attach a wire (at a different point) to the coil and then start the tractor and when you go to shut it off. Turn the key and then just find a metal point on the tractor to touch the wire to and hopefully the tractor will shut off.

I'm getting hydralic fluid in my engine oil. I was told that it's coming from my power steering unit. It's a JD 400 tractor/backhoe. Would this be correct?

check your crank case for fuel,
bowls stick open an fills it up
if this is the case , you can buy a plastic fuel cut valve from lawn mower shop
todays fuel isn't very good
also try sta-bil fuel coditioner
