Re: Transfer to MacBook Pro from digital video camera
When you connect the camera to your mac via firewire, make sure you have an application open that will allow you to import the material. The most common application being 'imovie'.

I take it that your macbook pro has imovie on it. If you open up imovie and plug in your camcorder it should recognise the camcorder and give you access to putting the movie onto your mac. Have a look at http://www.apple.com/support/imovie/ it should help.
Panasonic usually includes the Mac software program "Imagemixer 3" that imports the videos/photos you have on your camera. If the software isn't included with your camera, try Googling around for the program and it should come right up!
I hope this helps.

you can transfer to DV tape only by using software like Edius 6 or a similar one.
First you download the p2 card on the hard drive and then you use this program to convert the video file to DV and use the camcorder as recorder connecting to pc via firewire .
Hi!
You cannot transfer the video from Mini-DV to SD card within your camera as your camcorder does not have this feature. If your purpose for finding this function is to transfer your footage to your computer, you may try using the firewire port in your camera to connect it to your pc.
If you need help with the firewire connection, feel free to post a follow up.
Hope this helps!
i have uploaded the driver here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/151262301/Driver.rar.html
un rar and install it on the computer.
when you are done installing the driver proceed with the movie transfer as follows:
1- conect the camera to computer
2- open moviemaker program
3- choose option - capture from video device
4- You will have a choice of devices depending what else ic connected - choose panasonic dv
5 -at the selection screen choose - best quality for playback on my computer
6 - start recording
I believe what you are doing is trying to download both video AND photos using the same port. They are two different functions. One connection is under the video door, and the other is in one of the other hidden ports of your camera. Give that a shot. Also, make sure the dial is set on playback (the red videocamera icon) when connecting it to your computer when you transfer the video. This is not the same when transferring photos (which come from the SD card you have, not the tape), and the wheel has to be set to PC.
Digital video on the ZR400 is transferred to a computer only via the DV out port, which will connect to a firewire port on a PC or a Mac. USB will not transfer video, only images to and from the card.
