A. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:
In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.
Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.

B. By Using Software:

I have found that BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is a program that works instantly to remove any lost or forgotten BIOS/CMOS password. Simply boot your PC to DOS and execute the program, and get access to forgotten BIOS/CMOS passwords in just seconds

Cant find cmos battery on toshiba satellite A215-S4757

Zoom in on the first picture from the link below:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Toshiba-Satellite-A215-AMD-Motherboard-K000053710-CPU-A215-S4757-A215-S4817-/170847961281#vi-content

This is a picture of your motherboard. The RTC (CMOS) battery is the little light blue and silver circle in the lower left part of the motherboard(about 1cm from the left edge of the board and 4 cm from the bottom edge of the board). It's much smaller than a standard desktop's cmos battery (2032). You should be able to pop the tiny 2 pin connection out of the tiny slot there to reset it.

My toshiba laptop is askingn for a password to turn on. I know this relates to the cmos battery. I have the toshiba satellite A215-S7413, how to i get to the cmos battery?

How to get to the CMOS battery

The Toshiba Satellite A215-S4747 Notebook PC's CMOS battery, is soldered to a bracket on the bottom of the motherboard.
The laptop has to be completely disassembled to access it.

In this photo showing the bottom of the motherboard, the CMOS battery is in the middle,

This is a link to a free Service Manual, detailing disassembly,

Go to the 11th line down. The one that starts with Satellite A10
Go across and click on A215

This is a PDF file. It may take up to 30 seconds before you see the first page, and additional time to fully download.
Suggest you let the file download all the way before looking through it.

1) Remove ALL power to the laptop. Remove the AC adapter (Charger) and Battery

2) Observe Anti-Static Precautions
Suggest you bu and wear an ESD wrist strap, and connect the alligator clip to a good ground source.
Average price is around $3 to $6.

3) Use a multi-compartment container for the various screws you will remove.
Mark each compartment for the area the screws come out of.
There may be as many as 60 screws and 12 different types.
Do Not mix them up.

(You can use a clean egg carton in a pinch. Mark each egg holder)

Toshiba satilite a215 s7422 bios password how to cleare

You'll need a special tool that only Toshiba has. I believe you can get yours cleared for FREE if you tell them that all of a sudden out of nowhere you have a bios password. Stick to that story because they've already admitted to the problem with many of their laptops. You'll have to find an authorized Toshiba repair center to take care of it for you. Otherwise I believe they charge around $100 to clear it.

Don't bother to try the cmos battery trick, it doesn't work on your model. The password is stored on an onboard chip.
