Disconnect all devices from the power supply EXCEPT the motherboard
Remove any extra cards including video etc.(plug monitor into the onboard)
If you hear any beeps these can indictate where the fault is.
either of these sites below will help you further with that
Beep codes Pc
More beep codes
Power up the pc and see if the fans are working.
If not then double check the power connections to the board.
If you still have no fans it is time to suspect the power supply as the probable cause.
If the fans worked then you should have gotten a display which told you there was an error and offering you a chance to go into the BIOS. ignore it and shut down the PC.
Now connect one drive only and boot again.
Repeat that until you identify the component that is giving you a problem.
Once you find the problem then remove or disconnect and carry on with the rest to see if another component might also cause a problem
If there is only one problem device then you may want to investigate that device further, Unless you don't mind replacing it
You must be facing any of these four issues:
1) power issue
2) No POST
3) NO Boot
4) No video
Power issue - the system does not turn on at all. In this case check the AC adapter and the battery.
No POST - You may have to check the Memory, Hard drive and the optical drive. Can also be an issue with the video card/ key board/ mouse/main board which can prevent the system from turning on.
try reseating all the components above except the motherboard.
No Boot - Issue with the Operating system. Try booting into safe mode and check whether the system turns on perfectly. If so try to uninstall all the software you do not use. and may also consider a system restore else consider a Dell Complete factory restore.
No video - Try flashing light on the screen and look for the desktop. If you see the icons then probably the back light needs to be changed else the issue is with the display itself or the video card.
Kindly comment with more details about the problem.
SOURCE: How do I disable double-click on an HP Pavilion dv4 touchpad?
Hi there Dublin. I recently bought a HP laptop myself, and I believe I can help your situation, or at least I hope I can. Here's what you do: Access your Control Panel>Click Mouse>Click Device Settings>Click Settings> Click Tapping> Click Disable Tapping. That should do the trick. You are not disabling your touch-pad, just the double-clicking that is associated with it. Drove me nuts for about a day, 'til I figured it out..Hope it worked for your notebook.
