CARPETS OR HARD FLOORS

• The brush bar will always default to 'ON' (spinning) each time you switch the

appliance 'ON' and recline it for cleaning.

• The brush bar will not rotate when the appliance is upright.

• To switch the brush bar 'OFF' (e.g. for delicate rugs and hard floors):

- switch the appliance 'ON'

- recline the appliance

- press the brush bar 'ON/OFF' button - the brush bar will stop spinning.

• The brush bar will automatically stop if it becomes obstructed. See 'Brush bar -

clearing obstructions'.

• Before vacuuming your flooring, rugs and carpets, check the manufacturer's

recommended cleaning instructions.

• Some carpets may fuzz if a rotating brush bar is used when vacuuming. If this

happens, we recommend vacuuming in 'hard floor' mode and consulting with

the flooring manufacturer.

• The brush bar on the appliance may damage some carpet types. If you are
unsure, turn 'OFF' the brush bar.

The brush bar in DC39's Triggerhead floor tool is driven by an airflow-powered turbine. If your vacuum has strong suction but the brush bar stalls on carpeting, it suggests something may be jamming the brush bar.

DC41's brush bar is engineered to shut off for protection if something - for example, a shoelace or a rug fringe - jams it. You should be able to reset the machine once you've removed any threads, hair or debris from the brush bar and checked the cleaner head for obstructions:

If the brush bar in your DC47's carbon fibre turbine head isn't rotating it's worth checking it's set correctly. You can turn off the brush bar manually to clean delicate rugs, and it's possible the brush control may have been accidentally activated:

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC28. If the red on/off is flashing, this indicates that something may be jamming the brush bar. To resolve this, please follow the steps shown in the video attached. Make sure there are no obstructions in the cleaner head, and carefully remove any threads or hair from around the brush bar.

You may also want to try raising the brush bar one setting higher using the hight selector pad, as the brush bar will shut itself off if you have it set too low for the carpet pile you're cleaning.
