Flashing screen when i first turn on my SamsungSyncMaster 2232 bw

Hi, According to your problem, Check the adjust switches and readjust the monitor first. You have to repair the PCB of the monitor. Better if you can replace the PCB of the monitor.

There are really only 2 main things I could see as the problem.

1. Your screen has a "backlight" which is like a very slender flourescent light tube. It could be about to fail.

2. You have a video card in the computer which is failing.

The easiest way to check is to take the monitor and hook it to another computer. If it's still flashing like crazy, it's the monitor. If it displays normally, your computer has a video card or other motherboard related issue.

This monitor is expeicencing a defect on the backlight and the assembly behind it. The backlight may need replacing or you could just buy another monitor.

You could have a faulty inverter board or faulty CCFL lamp which can cause the screen to flash.

When the monitor is flashing, is the flashing coming from the middle and going up and done to fill the screen. If so, probably capacitors in the monitors power supply are leaking and need replacing.

try to clean around it's exit button sounds stuck
or unplug monitor for about 20 minutes
if the problem persists i would reinstall driver

try it on tuner mode to seperate the fault from video to rf input,if gone the video pc board is at fault.

Make sure your video setting are not at 800X600. Goto your display properties and then settings. Put your screen resoultion to 1024X768. try that

Monitors have brightness and contrast setup on them usually in a menu. A lot of monitors have a 1 button self correction that may work for you also

I would suggest trying another monitor to rule out your PC or monitor card. I would also check the video settings on the PC. Then assuming your cable/connector and video card are okay, it sounds like a lamp or lamp driver (a.k.a. ballast or inverter) issue. In other words, an internal issue that probably needs component-level troubleshooting.
