Go to the website for the motor manufacturer- it will show how these capacitors are to be wired. You'll need the motor model number.

I have a Ingersoll Rand Compressor model# 2545E10V 10 HP,3 phase and I would like to convert it to a signle phase. would this motor here be good to go with and what other items will be needed to complete...

It might. Mounting holes match? Shaft diameter and adapter match? Power supply sufficient for 5HP motor? It's a big motor! You might get a better answer from the ebay supplier.

Need wiring diagram for switching volts on a century magnetek 5hp air compressor

What is the model number? Most of the Century 5 HP motors are 220 Volt single phase. What did you want to change it to?

Ajax 5hp air compressor wiring diagram Problems

If you're running 3 phase, swap 2 infeed wires. If you're running single phase, look in the wiring diagram in the motor head for the wires to move.

The Electric motor does not have enough torque to start compressor. It is hooked up to 230V with 40 amp single phase. checked voltage with meter so I know it has enough voltage.

Does it trip the breaker or does the motor just hum and not turn the compressor? The motor may need a start capacitor. Do not keep tryin to start you can burn out the start winding on the motor.
TURN OFF POWER AND LOCK OUT.... try and take the belts off (if it has belts)of the motor and compressor and make sure both turn freely. IF THEY TURN FREELY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE MOTOR. You said voltage, wire size and breakers are the right size.
Hope this helps you with your problem...Jim...please leave a comment
