Divx file extension is a high-compression video codec applied for digital video distribution. To compresses video to a segment of the original size while keeping the massive original quality. It can support video resolutions up to 1080 HD.
If you can't play divx files on windows media player or VLC even after installing codec, you can try some other DIVX player programs such as leawo blu-ray player or divx player.

Hi,
You probably need to install divx codecs too.
Download & install divx codecs from here and restart your computer to see if the videos play>>>>>>>>>

1. Make sure you have installed/updated the graphic drivers.
2. You may install K-Lite Codec Pack/Player or VLC to play DVDs and video files.
3. for streaming videos you have to install flash player. Try installing Google Chrome.

Try using a different player or CODEC. A couple of very good ones are K-Lite Full and VLC

VLC is probably the easiest to install and will work "right out of the box" so to speak. K-Lite is a CODEC pack that installs a number different audio and video COder / DECoder (hence the term "CODEC"), and can player a larger variety of audio / video sources. Most people will have very good luck with VLC or K-Lite Full versions.

I hope this helps & good luck!

My windows could not play mpeg 4 or mp4 format..does a k lite codec could help?

You may want to install the codec pack from the link below, to ensure you have all the codecs required to run all video formats.

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_lite_codec_pack.htm

If this still doesn't help, you may need to reinstall your Windows Media Player (or other media software), and then apply the codec pack again.

Some videofiles are playing with violet and green colours! What can I do to fix it? I use Media Player Classic and latest version of k-lite codec pack. Thanks!

I would recommend downloading and installing VLC Media Player.

From Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VLC_media_player>
"VLC is a portable multimedia player, encoder, and streamer supporting many audio and video codecs and file formats as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols."

It's an excellent player, and can play almost any video file you have.

To download go to http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ and follow the instructions there.

File won't play video

The reason that the video is not playing is because the video uses certain "codecs" to decode the video. (It is basically a way that the computer interprets how to display the video on your screen.)

You need to install a good codec pack so that you can play all formats of video and/or audio.

I recommend using K-Lite Mega Codec Pack. It plays everything from Windows Media (AVI) to Quicktime files and just about everything in between. This is a very widely-used and popular codec pack. It also comes with a much simpler version of Windows Media Player. (It shows as an older version...and even looks like an older version, but it is only based on the older version as it honestly worked much better than newer versions.)

Here is the link.

(Click HERE to download the codec pack.)

Just use the DEFAULT installation. Don't change anything. There is no need to. Once it is installed, it will use the version of Windows Media Player that I just mentioned by default.

But if you still wish to use version of Windows Media Player that you currently have installed, then you may feel free to do so. It will still play videos using the same codecs that were installed by K-Lite. (All A/V programs will use the codecs.)

Another player I have recently found is GomPlayer. Very nice interface. Clean and easy to use. Install K-Lite and try out GomPlayer if you like afterwards.

HERE is a link. According to the site, you may not have to install any other codec packs after installing GOMPlayer. That may or may not be true. It IS OK if you install both.

Good luck. Let me know how it goes. :)
