How can I stop cursor from moving to new location on its own in XP how can I remove and reload the touch pad driver on a Dell Inspiron 1525 running xp Pro sp3? I also have the original Vista still installed and am using a microsoft wireless mouse. The cursor jumps erratically to new locations of its choosing. Dell replaced the keyboard but it still has this problem. I asked microsoft knowledge base how can I stop cursor from moving to new location on its own in XP, and microsoft's knowledge base had article that suggested removing and reloading the touch pad driver. Of course, it didn't say how to do this. Same problem even if I use a wired mouse.

Does this happen when the adapter is connected or not.. most of the time is an adapter problem. try checking it on the battery and on the adapter. If you find change in the erratic moment on the battery. its an adapter problem.
To reinstall the touch pad driver for your machine. click on the following link.
For windows vista:- http://tinyurl.com/ntq4a3

For windows Xp: - CLICK HERE

Again, i would strongly advise you to change the adapter and use the computer. ;)

All the best

Oh man!...
First, the mouse:
[Control Panel]
[Mouse]
[Pointer Options] tab
uncheck "Automatically move pointer to the default button..."

TouchPad:
Right-click [My Computer]
[Manage]
[Device Manager]
open the +Mice and other pointing devices
Right-click on your touchpad entry (if you can't tell which one, pick one - no harm will come)
You can update driver...
or you can uninstall it and WINDOWS WILL RE_INSTALL IT>

Let us know the outcome ... and how many seconds it took to fix...

I have a dell inspiron 1525 laptop and my cursor jumps when im typing e-mails

If your hands are really warm they don't even need to touch the touchpad in order to move the cursor. You can go into "device manager" and disable the touchpad and just use a wireless mouse instead.

My cursor on my Dell inspiron 1525 laptop is stuck in the middle of my screen the touch pad isn't working either I was wondering how i could fix this

Try an external mouse. You might have to turn off the touchpad in BIOS (F2 key on boot will get you into setup). Look for Mouse/Touchpad under 'Post Behavior' or perhaps elsewhere (differently displayed in various BIOS setups).

Touch pad not working on Dell Inspiron 1525

My daughter has the same laptop and I went to Dell's web site and checked on the parts to buy. The keyboard kit that came with a new touch pad would be around $119.oo. She is going to wait until next pay day. Check it out and have a friend replace it, if you do not want to.
