AGP slot The specs on this machine don't mention an AGP slot. It has 3 PCI slots and 1 PCIe x 16 slot. I'm assuming the GeForce graphics card is in the PCIe slot. I need to run 3 monitors. I want to get a 256mb graphics card that will run 2 monitors and replace the existing card with a 256mb card. I can't find a 256mb card that fits into a regular PCI slot. Does this machine have an AGP slot? what is the best way to run 3 monitors? If someone can help me it would be really great

Most current high-performance graphics cards (GPUs) are PCI Express (PCIe) cards. The others use the "legacy" standard known as AGP.

ML350 G5 has PCIe slots, but they are x4 or at most x8 variety: most high-performance GPUs require a PCIe x16 slot. Of course, PCIe cards are supposed to work with lower-bandwidth slots too, but that limits the performance of the card. I would not expect high-performance GPU manufacturers to do much testing with limited-performance configurations, so you would easily find yourself in the land of "unsupported".

PCI-X is a faster/wider version of PCI for servers: I don't know of any common high-performance graphics card that would use a PCI-X slot.

PCI-X is backwards compatible with plain old PCI, but I would not call any PCI graphics card "high performance" today.

Most high-performance GPUs also require more current than a standard PCIe slot can supply. That necessitates an extra power feed from the PSU to the card, but such a power feed is not often available in server-style machines.

Trying to convert a rack-mount server into a graphics monster machine is like trying to adapt a Formula-1 car for a gravel-road rally: different roles call for different designs.

the Matrox Parhelia PCI allows 3 monitors, it also works with pci (of course)

Hi this will depend on weather you have an separate graphics card rather than an on-board one, if it is on-board you will not be able to replace it as the chip set for the graphics card are on the motherboard and you will have to replace the lot if the graphics have gone u/s, however if you have a PCIe, or an AGP connected graphics card, it should be in the first slot on the motherboard, open up the PC, and you should see the motherboard with lots of chips and a big fan, then you will have some slot's these are either AGP, PCI or PCIe slots, normally the AGP slot is brown in colour, the PCI slots are normally white, and the PCIe slot is normally blue or green, just really depends on the manufacturer of the board, the graphics card will be in the first ( top ) slot, if you have no "addin" cards then everything is on-board, and if its an e-machine, i dare say it will all be on-board...hope this helps

No this card won't work in an 'HP Pav. Slimline s3620f" The specs from HP say it has one open PCI-E slot that is used for graphics cards.

Unlike PCI slots which are the same size for all devices, PCIe slots can differ depending on which form factor it accepts. The longest would be the 16 lane slot and understandably, the shortest is for the x1 devices.

these cards come both ways..This is a first generation PCIe card, but some were made with an AGP bridge that allowed them to be used in a AGP slot. You will need to visually inspect the your card. sorry to say this your dell system only has a X1 vga slot it is not compatible with the card you have.

If you want to use a card you have to go for a new system

1. The emachines W3503 has an integrated ATI Radeon™ X300 based graphics card. It has also a PCI Express (PCIe x16) slot available.

2. The emachines W3052 has a NVIDIA® GeForce®4™ MX graphics card. I'm not sure whether it is integrated or not, but I'm sure that if it is not, it will be an AGP graphics card. Since The emachines W3503 has a PCI Express (PCIe x16) slot available for installing a graphics card, the swapping of graphics cards between the 2 machines is not possible since they support different types of graphics cards.

sir, you cant replace it with PCI E from AGP, unless your motherboard can handle either PCIE or AGP. cause there is a motherboard which is compatible with the two interface video cards slots but in your case i dont think so. Better to check your motherboards manual for this.

So you bought an XFX GeForce 256MB video card. You're board has 1 free AGP 8x video slot & 3 PCI (White opened slots).
You mention there is not slot for the new card. (What type of video card did you buy)? PCI-E, AGP or PCI?
The only slot you're board does not have is a PCI-Express.
Look in you're manual on page 1-7 for the location of the AGP video card slot.
If you bought the wrong card, exchange it for an AGP 8x or PCI.
