JVC AV48WP30 no picture no sound, convergence board?

I have a JVC AV48WP30 rear projection TV. All of a sudden no picture no sound but the power indicator light is on. Yesterday, I pulled out the convergence board and turned it on to test and it came to life with static/noise picture and static noise since I didn't have any signal source hooked up. I got a bit excited that I might not have to buy a new tv. Would this mean I need to replace resistors and the STK chips as sold as a repair kit package. I wanted to know if replacing the parts from a convergence board repair kit will fix this issue or this is something beyond convergence board. Thank you the help in advance. - poor tv owner

Just buy the chips and check all the resistors on the board==any bad ones will be discolored; these so called kits are a waste of money--you just need to replace the chips and maybe 1 or 2 resistors--let me know if you need help.

There are a number of different STK type parts. You need to look on the old ones for the part numbers. May have to dissassemble the heatsink to see the number. STK is pretty good about its numbers and you should have no trouble finding them.

SOURCE: I have a jvc av48wp30 tv and need a wire diagram

Looking the convergence board from the side of the resistors (The chips will be behind the resistors), you have from de left to right:

1.5 ohms, 150ohms, 220ohms, 2.2ohms, 3.3 ohms, 220ohms, 1.8ohms, 220ohms, 150ohms, 150ohms, 1.5ohms, and dispose horizontal in relation of the other resistors (the one near to the Ic is 2.2ohms and the other is 220ohms).

Hope this helps...

SOURCE: JVC av48wp30 question... I just replaced the STK

hello. 1/ did you go into service menu and mess with any settings before you changed the ic, if so this will cause the tv not to switch on 2/ did you test the resistors in front of the ic and the capacitors at either end. also there may be some protection fuses on the board that may have shorted i'll see if i can get service manual for you try get this tv back up and running thanks

regards
shaun
