The AC (Duo-Therm Model 57915.622) in my RV has been working great until today. All of a sudden, the compressor would sound like it was kicking on, but then just hum for a few seconds, and then kick off. When this occurred, I can smell a slight electrical smell coming out of the AC vents in the ceiling. About 10 seconds after the compressor kicks off, it tries to kick on again and repeat the same cycle. I had a RV service come out and was told it would be best to replace the unit. That would be nice to have a cheaper fix. Please advise if you found a fix. Thanks Ken
With rooftop air-conditioning units two issues are commons and that not clean unit that slow the fan and that effect the compressor, check the fan and see if the housing clean and no debris and as far as the compressor it is don and you need to replace it, I am sorry to tell you the news but on the other hand you can get used one now very cheep and they do work good. See if you contact local dealer that serves them and ask for used one or call campaign world and ask them to look for one for you…let me know how that work for you and please do not forget to rate my service so we can improve on it with your help.
