Tomtom ONE GPS Receiver Logo
Anonymous Posted on Sep 20, 2009

I have the Tom Tom ONE (Build 2000) Tom Tom Palermo (if this Info Screen info is helpful). This Tom Tom HAS NO RESET PIN HOLE (Thanks a lot Tom Tom). I instaled included Tom Tom Home software, went to their site and downloaded New Software Version. The unit took the software procedures and then promptly went into what I can the ''stuck screen'' which is a white X in a red circle which flashes. Holding the On Button results in the Info Screen popping up and staying as long as I hold the On Button down. As soon as I release it, the unit reverts back to the flashing X. I would appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks. Tom

My thanks to the gentleman who posted the link to Tom Tom's solutions link. Although I had been there previously months ago when I first encountered this problem, there had been at that time, no instructions from them on how to properly reset the One that does not have a reset pin hole. That was in March. There are now such instructions.
The key to resetting such a Tom Tom GPS device lies in plugging your One into your computer, which automatically launches Tom Tom Home software (please remember, you have to have Home software installed on your computer already). After doing this:
1. When Home launches, go to Manage My Device Folder (p.2) and click it to open it.
2. You will see a folder-style window which lists all of the items that are your device. Select the folder tab: 'Items on device.' Then Deselect Applications. Click OK when promted. The Applications software will be deleted from your Tom Tom One.
3. IMPORTANT! Then clcik the other folder tab 'Items on computer.' Do the same here by deselcting to uninstal software on your computer as well. Click OK when promted.
4. If you do not get an automatic dialog box indicating that you need new application software installed, return to p.1 and select the folder 'Update My Device.' Follow the instructions as prompted and Tom Tom will both download new computer Home software as well as new software to the One device.
That should do it.
I will tell you that it took me three passes at this process. So it's not a breeze. But in the end it finally worked. And my One, which had been down since March is once again finally up and running with new software and as well as I remember it working.
Hope this helps others.
Tom

My tom tom will not activate

try to reset the unit. There is a small hole on the bottom of the unit, insert a small pin on the hole and hold it for a couple of seconds and it will reset it, you might loose the addresses saved so you might want to copy them before resetting it.

Clearing my tom tom 700 of recent destination and phone numbers

Perform a hard reset. That should delete every last bit of info you have saved on your tomtom. To do this press and hold the power and reset buttons for about 5 seconds.

Tom tom go 710 wont switch on

Press the tiny reset button...

You'll need the pointy end of a paperclip or a pin.

Turn your TomTom upside down and look at the underneath, with the screen facing away from you.

Starting at the back and moving towards the screen, you'll see a small traingular-shaped piece of rubber, then a plastic area with a small hole to the left, then the circuit board with all the little gold connectors.

It's that small hole that's the reset button, push your paper clip or pin in there. Your TomTom should reset straight away, but sometimes it takes a few tries for various lengths of time.

Enjoy your newly restored TomTom!

Tom tom no responce

The reset button on this unit is on the back at the top right as you turn the unit around. It is a very small hole. You must insert a paperclip or pin into this hole to reset the unit.

the reset hole is hard to find... If you are looking at the back of the unit, it is in the upper right hand side of the liitle plastic protrusion at the top of the semi-circular opening above where you can see the exposed circuit board.

Volume

Hello Smboston,
I like to help if i can. On your Tom Tom one there is whole at the bottom, this hole is to reset the Tom Tom in case of if it does not work properly. Put a pin (not a sharp one) into the hole and push it couple of times till you feel button is being pressed. That will reset the whole of your Tom Tom and try it then to see if it works fine. If it works good if not you need to check all your volume settings by going into the volume control settings. I hope it works for you. Good Luck.
