general error normally comes if the printer carriage movement is obstructed
try doing the following
1 switch off the printer and switch on after some time and see that the head carriage moves properly or not if not than
2 look for obstruction in the carriage path
3 the cartiages installed might not be seated properly try reinstalling them
it is possible that the encoder strip is not connected. there is a small plastic strip that goes all the way from the left to the right, its possible it came out or is ripped. if it came out you will need to reinstall it, most likely the unit will need to be taken apart to get that strip installed.
General error : head carriage error / chip not recognized. Head carriage can't move freely. Just turn off for about 1 hour, turn on again without ink tank. Plug ink tank.
step1..............switch on
step2............press+hold stop, ink, power buttons untill printer switches self of
step3............switch back on and problems should have gone
