No video/display on TV when using sony str dh 500

Here is my configuration (fairly straightforward)

I need to connect 1 DirectTv HD recevier (HDR) and a TV to my Sony Receiver. (AVR)

Connections:
1) HDMI out from HDR to SAT HDMI IN of AVR. Digital Coax Audio OUT from HDR to AVR
2) Composite Monitor OUT from AVR to TV composite IN. Audio OUT from TV to TV Audio In of AVR.

All speakers minus subwoofer connected to the respective jacks. There is no audio/video when I swith all the componentes on. The AVR is programmed to SAT input.

Problem Solved: I was mixing the components from DVR to AVR and from the AVR to the TV. You cannot use HDMI for one and Composite for the other. It works when I switch to Composite for everything. The comment on the audio was right as well.

If your set up is HDR-AVR and TV all you need to do is go HDMI out from HDR to HDMI in(Sat.) of AVR and monitor out HDMI (or composite video) to TV. and select the Sat. input on the AVR. The sound is only comming from the HDR in this case and the composite video or HD video is being switched out to the TV when you select Sat. on your AVR

  • Anonymous Sep 20, 2009

It's the audio out from TV that doesn't seem needed since there is no need to supply audio to the TV if you are using the AVR as the amp.

Mac Sony HDR-SR11 MTS to Avid converter-Convert AVHCD to Avid

I have Sony HDR-SR11 AVCHD HDD camera to shoot family videos and beach videos. However, after I transfer .mts files from Sony HDR-SR11, Avid does not support the AVCHD file. I wonder the best AVCHD workflow into Avid from Sony HDR-SR11 and google for solutions.
I was recommended with Sorenson Squeeze to convert Sony HDR-SR11 MTS to Avid DNxHD codec. However, Sorenson Squeeze does not natively support .mts and the file extension should be changed to .m2ts. The conversion time is much longer than that the original clip. One thing should be mentioned is that the exported DNxHD is loaded quickly to Avid. Sorenson Squeeze also costs quite a lot. I just find a better Mac Sony HDR-SR11 MTS to Avid converter - Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac. The price is dramatically low comparing to Sorenson Squeeze, and the output MOV video works in Avid MC and Xpress Pro.
Here is how I import Sony HDR-SR11 camera videos to Avid Media Composer by converting 1920x1080 MTS to HD MOV.
Step 1. Load Sony HDR-SR11 videos to Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac.
Run Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac as the Mac Sony HDR-SR11 MTS to Avid converter on Mac Snow Leopard, and click the "Add" button to load HD .mts videos.
Step 2. Choose AVC MOV for Avid.
Click the "Format" option, and choose Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas > MOV (AVC)(*.mov), and the Sony MTS to Avid converter will transcode the HD MTS files to MOV for Avid MC, Xpress Pro.

Step 3. Convert Sony HDR-SR11 AVCHD to Avid.
Click the convert button under the preview window, and the Sony MTS to Avid Converter will start converting HDR-SR11 AVCHD MTS to HD MOV for Avid Xpress Pro, or the upgraded Media Composer 5.
As soon as the conversion in finished, you can import Sony HDR-SR11 videos to Avid Media Composer, Avid Xpress Pro for editing. The output HD MOV also works in Final Cut Pro and iMovie, and other non-linear editing software like Adobe Premiere on Mac OS X.
If you are using other Sony AVCHD cameras, you may also face the same problem. Have a look at the Sony HD camcorder page for Sony HDR-XR520, HDR-CX110, DSC-TX7, HDR-TG7 and other models.

How to project an image from an external device from a Sony Camcorder HDR-PJ240E?

Simple solution. You connected an output to an output. The Camcorder 'outputs' image from it so you need to plug it into an input on your TV. You will then see image from the camcorder on your tv.

I have an HD PVR (Explorer 8300) and have connected to my Samsung TV using HDMI cable. My question is can I connect my SONY STR DE605 receiver or do I need a new one?

Depending on your tv output, you shpuld be able to hook your TV to receiver via audio output. Running your video components through your receiver will not give you the best performance anyway. Run your HD DVR to TV the way you have it then, if it's possible to run audio out from TV, via, RCA, digital optical, etc., to your receiver. The sound will be transfered through the TV. You may also be able to utilize component out from your HD DVR and a separate audio cable.

Sony Handycam HDR-TG3E is a super small camera with full HD recording on Memory Stick in 2008. It includes 4GB and 10x optical zoom for capturing 1920x1080 and 1440x1080 videos. However, this camera does not include progressive recording mode, which indicates that the HD videos are 1080i. Even though it is compact camera, the audio is recorded in Dolby Digital 5.1ch. You can also take 2.3Mp stills while you are recording video footage.
Sony HDR-TG3E features:
- 1920x1080i HD video recording
- 4 megapixel still photo recording
- Dual Rec simultaneous 2.3 megapixel still photo during video recording
- Handy face detection
- Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens
- ClearVid CMOS Sensor and Exmor derived technology

Transfer & Edit Sony HDR-TG3 AVCHD videos:
For Windows users:

For Mac users:
You can capture and transfer Sony HDR-TG3 1080i videos to iMac/MacBook Pro via iMovie after connecting camera to computer with USB cable. However, you may face problem when trying to log and transfer AVCHD videos from Sony Handycam HDR-TG3E to Final Cut Express (FCE) 4 or Final Cut Pro (FCP) 5. After transferring HD .mts videos from camera to computer hard drive, just run Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac as the Mac Sony HDR-TG3 MTS converter to deinterlace .mts videos and convert .mts to .mov for FCE and FCP, if you want to edit HD videos.
Alternative way to transfer HDR TG3 videos for Mac and PC:
Just connect HDR TG3 pocket camera to computer via the USB cable, and the HDR TG3 will display as a hard drive on computer. Navigate to the HDR TG3 hard drive to access the memory stick.
Tips: Sony Handycam HDR-TG3E is the model for Europe, and Sony Handycam HDR-TG1 is the model for US.

The most likely cause for this is a damaged or defective flexible ribbon cable that connects the LCD to the camera body and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to usually be repaired by a qualified service technician.
