SOURCE: remove a chuck from a skill drill

If it's anything like their other drills, there is a safety screw with left-hand threads inside chuck.

  1. Uncscrew screw CLOCKWISE until loose.
  2. Then insert the short arm of a 3/8" hex wrench and tighten.
  3. Strike long arm of wrench sharply counter-clockwise and chuck should loosen to unthread from spindle.

Why does drill only rotate in the remove position

All questions need 'make model (what it is)' as the first 3 words.

It is likely to be the selector, Undo-Lock-Clockwise, or it is the gearbox or switching mechanism, depending on type.

With make and model not stated, you can look it up

make model only works in reverse

I have a mastercraft industrial reversible drill. Model number 1540. Looking for a replacement handle with the power trigger and reverse switch. Anyone know where I can get replacement parts?

this picture of the drill is familiar or similar to a "skill" made drill
talk with a service agent for skill, B&D woulf machines and you may get a cross match or even a handle from a failed drill

Where is the reverse switch on my black & decker 1/4 7004 drill type 1

The now vintage B&D model 7004 type 1 was a single-speed, non-reversible drill. There is no reverse switch.

I have a skill table saw model 3400 type 2. The

I would check to see that ID of the blade arbor matches the OD of the motor arbor, and you are not missing an adapter ring. Then I would get some acetone and a wire brush clean all surfaces where the blade seats. This is also good practice for Jacobs chucks on drills, that allow the drill bits to spin.

The chuck no longer spins on my drill

Hi your best chance is to try ebay for one with the motor gone.
Other than that best you can do is buy another drill the same so you will have a spare battery.
You could try Skill for a gear but it probably will be the price of a new drill.
