Be sure TOP control shows zig-zag. Flip top right bar from red to black or black to red on side of machine facing you. You can then change the widths by changing the numbers on that same circle control.

SOURCE: the zag part of zig zag won't work

i believe your machine is skipping the stitch on the RIGHT side as you sew and this is normally a timing problem. Lower your needle about 1/16 inch and try it . It might work to finish your project but it will need to be serviced to have the timing corrected.

SOURCE: ZIG-ZAG NOT WORKING

Make sure your presser foot is tight down. If the needle is going from side to side, it's doing it's job. If the stitches are coming out straight, the material is probably slipping back and forth to center area. The presser will eliminate this.

SOURCE: Needle stop up/down no longer works on Viking 118

sometimes the bobbin winder gets left closed, and that will make the machine run slowly and with no up/down button.

I need assistance with the settings for a zig zag stitch that does not appear to be sewing correctly.

Your tension is off. Start by using the sewing computer setting for thick fabric. Sew "test swatches" on scraps of the fleece you're planning to sew until your swatch stitches look correct.

What do I set my machine for to make very close zig zag stitch. Husqvarna Viking platinum 755.

With most machines after you select the Zig Zag setting you then select the normal stitch knob that can be adjusted for long or short stitch lengths and that should also give you adjustment on your Zig Zag stitch length .

I have the settings correct but it still doesn't zig zag correctly??? what could be wrong???

try a new needle
could also be something wrong with the cam that does the zig zag stitch
would be a good idea to have the machine checked to see if there is something wrong with the cam

Viking 6440 zig zag

Yep, it's out of time. You'll need to either pay to have it timed or Do it yourself. Personally zig zags are a bit of a pain... I would pay.

Bernette 75 won't Zig-Zag

Is there a stitch width setting and has to be set to a number greater than zero?

I need to adjust the needle so when I zig zag it will not hit the plastic. It works perfect on stright stitch.

You might have the zig zag set for z-z left or right-hand. Make sure you are choosing the zig zag centre stitch. Also check you are using the correct foot - it should be the A or B foot with the wide opening.

Singer Athena 2000 won't zig zag

Did you switch the metal plate to one of the ones that won't allow left/right movement by any chance?
If the wrong plate it in -The machine somehow figures out that the plate won't allow the needle to move in the left/right directions and only does a straight stitch or funky other stitches.

Zig Zag Stitch not working

THis problem occurred as I was sewing on Neoprene. I was using Gutterman all-purpose thread and a size 80 needle. Tried switching to a size 70, then to size 90. Still unable to zig zag. After inserting a test sample of cotton, the zig zag worked perfectly, so I knew it was not a mecahnical problem. I switched needles again. This time to size 90 for stretch fabric. Voila! Problem solved.
