Turn off the water supply, put a towel under the filter compartment, turn the old one CCW, put in the near one and turn CW. Reset the indicator by pressing and holding for 3-5 seconds.
I was house sitting for my friend and her LG refrigerator all of a sudden died. Model: LBC22520SW.
I googled for this problem and found a guy who repaired his frig that had a similar problem and it turned out to be a burnt out fuse: (http://thisdoesnotcompute.org/2013/04/21/fixing-a-completely-dead-lg-refrigerator/) since the fuse was soldered onto the motherboard, I had to ask a techie friend to help (well, he's an over qualified techie -- actually a retired aeronautic engineer); but once we replaced the fuse, the refrigerator went back to work.
Cost of repair: $6.25 for the fuse, and $0.23 for the soldering wire (he used a high grade copper wire) vs. possible $300 for an "official" repair.
