I think the only solution is to phisically remove the key from the keyboard - VERY gently, in order not to break or send flying the pieces to which the key is attached. The little rubber button underneath might be squished below those pieces.

it sounds like you have sticky keys on.
this would come on by pressing the shift key 5 times.
press any two keys at the same time and the control panel will come up.

The HP50 and HP60 laptops both have a lock button I just discovered by tripping over it today. Couldn't find a description of it in the printed or onboard manuals. This button is in addition to the overall computer lock function key (f6) that is well described. This keyboard/touchpad (k/t) lock button is obvious when pointed out, but less so when those items are already locked out by casual hand motion. The button is located just above the touchpad and is embedded in the border trim of the keypad. It toggles access to your k/t. It has a little indicator light so one doesn't miss it, but it is pretty low-key, if you forgive the pun. Designers can be a little too cool sometimes!
