Make sure both the idlers and tensioner pulleys remain aligned, i.e. pulley bearings and tensioner arm aren't wore out.

Possibly one of the transaxle is moving out of place. Check mounting.

You might try raising both rear wheels of the ground and then see if belt throws.

this was issued dec 22-2003 you would think that it would have shown up as a problem by now.

SUBJECT: Traction belt jumps off the pulley.
SITUATION: Incorrect pulley alignment causes the traction belt to jump off, usually when the drive is disengaged or as a hill is crested.
CORRECTION:
1. Remove the belt cover, engine belt guide and the bolt securing the crankshaft pulley.
2. Remove the auger brake assembly.
3. Remove the crankshaft pulley and the auger belt.
4. On the left side of the machine, remove the hair pin cotter from the speed control link and slide the link out of the pulley pivot assembly. The traction belt can now be removed.
5. Shorten the pulley half nearest the engine (PN 106-7334) shown in Fig 1. Grind or machine 1/8” (.125”/3.2mm). from the hub end of the pulley. The new finished length of the pulley half should be 1.07” (2.7cm).
6. Chamfer the bore to ensure the pulley fully contacts the shoulder on the crankshaft. You can send the pulley to an outside machine shop if you do not feel that you can modify the pulley in house.
7. Reinstall the pulley with a new traction belt.
A. Chamfer edge after grinding/machining.
B. Remove 1/8”.
C. Masking tape used as a reference line.
8. With the engine off, engage both the traction and auger levers and inspect the alignment of both the auger and traction belt idler pulleys (Fig. 2). Since we have moved the crankshaft pulley it may be necessary to bend the idler arms slightly to center the belts. Adjust as needed.
9. Install the engine belt guide and test operate.
10. Install the belt covers.

SOURCE: Keeps throwing the belt off

I had the exact same problem, except it was shredding the belt as well. It even jumped off the pully after just distance down the road. Come to find out the idler (which had been changed out with what was "supposed" to be the right one) was the wrong one. It looked right, but after changing the idler out we have not had this problem again.

SOURCE: I have 2001 Husqvarna lawn tractor model YTH1746 wnt go into gear

those fluid drive transmissions fail on quite a few brands as they all use the same ones....replace the trans...they are expensive but still cheaper than a new mower.

My Husqvarna RZ4623 lawnmower left wheel stopped moving forward and back. Right side moves fine... help.

Check the leftside manual transport bypass lever has not somehow engaged. Compare it to the right side.

The two transaxles are driven by the same belt so extremely unlikely it's a belt problem.

Look for any signs of fluid leaking from the left transaxle shaft seal. If the seal has been leaking then it may be low on fluid. The transaxles are considered maintenance free so there are no instructions from Husqvarna for adding fluid but it can be done. However, if the shaft seal is leaking it will need replaced.

See operators manual regarding bypass levers (rods).

Try to push in and hold the freewheel lever and rock the mower forward and backward. The bypass should click shut and the transaxle re-engage.

Only starts if mower lever engaged (without drive belt)

Sounds very strange but i would guess either a micro switch or one of the relays behind the dash.

Craftsman lawn tractor will not engage in forward drive why

Check to see if brake lever is stuck on trans, keeping the brakes locked. should not be any squalling noises. Also make sure belt is routed right. and all idlers spin free.

Hello I have a husqvarna YTH22V46 riding mower that doesn't want to move. I have changed drive belt in the spring and it worked fine but now mulching leaves the drive has slowed. I have replaced the belt...

Bleed the air out of the transmission. Pull the lever at the rear of the garden tractor and disengage the transmission. Then fire it up and press forward pedal for ten seconds, then reverse for ten seconds. Do this a total of three times, then re-engage the transmission. I had the problem you did, but after reading you had questionable success changing the belt, I read the freaking manual and saw that you should do this when it's brand new. I figured it couldn't hurt, and voila, I could pull inclines again and go much faster.
