SOURCE: feed dog is stuck

I have the same problem...this is a work around, not a fix. You need a small flat-head screwdriver. 1. Remove the clear bobbin cover. 2. Make sure the feed dog switch is in the DOWN position. 3. Slide the screwdriver under the feeddogs from inside the bobbin area & lift the feed dogs. 4. While holding the feed dogs in the up position, return the feed dog knob to the up position. You have to do this every time you put the feed dogs down...bummer, but I can find no broken part or adjustment that corrects this. If it's inside the machine body, I don't mess with it... I did take off the bottom plate in the feed dog area..one screw holds it.... there is nothing there to indicate a problem.

SOURCE: Feed dogs do not come back up after lowering

Are you talking about the feed dogs or the presser foot. Either way, if you moved a lever to lower them, there is probably a screw that either fell out or has become loose that holds the linkage to the lever.

SOURCE: Feed dog lever not working on my Kenmore 385 24 stitch machine

I surfed around this site for various suggestions, finally took the bottom plate off and cleaned and oiled all the parts along that rod that goes right across (think it's a drive bar that rotates). Ran the machine without thread in for a few minutes to let the oil soak in. Machine now works fine.

SOURCE: feed dogs stuck in down position

The feed dogs come up as soon as you start sewing again. Just make sure they're in the up position and start sewing.

SOURCE: Hi, have tried to use buttonhole feature on singer 4423. Dog feed teeth have dropped - won't come back up and the material isn't feeding though. Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: Reverse feed dogs on Singer 4423 Remove extension table so you can see switch on BACK of machine @ left side. Flip switch to raise feed dogs up. If machine actually sewing in reverse - check n Buttonhole adjustment. Reset it (located bottom right side machine) Jimmy

My se400 works great most of the time. Perfect stitches and than jams, material won’t move. Remove it and starts again goes for a while than, jams

Be sure to clean the bobbin/hook area (including the feed dogs) frequently. Sometimes, the thread will pick up junk and cause a jam.

I have a se400 brother machine and the lcd screen stuck on brightness also the carriage not moving . i am tuning on machine but nothing else works

Moving the carriage by hand will not hurt it. You may have the feed dogs up. Does it sew without the embroidery unit.

Fabric feeds crooked when sewing

Would suggest taking your machine for service. Could be the feed dogs need adjustment or realignment. Also, make sure you are using the correct presser foot for your machine. With all the new machines that have 7mm and 9mm presser feet (most older machines have 4mm or 5mm), using the incorrect width presser foot may cause the fabric to skew.

Just received my machine and the fabric will not feed through.

It is likely that your feed dogs have been dropped. Try following the instructions listed in the attached link. It is also possible that something got jostled in shipping, and may need adjusting. If you can locate the feed dog drop mechanism and it is engaged, you may need to take your machine back to where you purchased it and have it replaced or adjusted.

Adjust feed dog height on Brother 1500s

Raise the presser foot lever, and then slide the drop feed lever. Set the lever in the position for normal sewing. The feed dogs can not be raised only by sliding the drop feed lever to . Turn the handwheel toward you (counterclockwise), or press the "Needle Position" button once or twice.

My SE400 keep bending or breaking needles while trying to embroidery.

Machine breaks needles
1.make sure you are using the right needle for your type of sewing machine.
Most machines can use generic Schmetz needles. There are cases where the machine will only use ones specified in the owners manual.
2.the presser foot may not be installed properly
3.use the correct needle for the type of fabric you are working with. To fine of needle on heavy fabric or to course a needle on silk or jersey can damage fabric.
4.let the feed dogs guide the fabric & the feed dogs will work with the presser foot .
5.the needle is not all the way in -push all the way up against the stop

Feed dogs stuck in down position

that the feed dog lever is in the up position. When the lever is in the down position, the feed dogs will show on the top if there is no pressure on them at all. Make sure that the machine makes one complete cycle to check this. Just throwing the switch does not make them come to the surface.

If this does not work, then the feed gear is broken and you will need to take it to a mechanic.
