The sbd8000 does not charge the newer ipods.... The following is from the Philips website...
The SBD6000 and SBD8000 do not support newer generation iPods.
On newer generation iPods, different electrical contacts for the charging process are being used. The SBD8000 does not support this.
Allstar,
A good place to start would be the jack of the malfunctioning speaker, the cable that connects it to the speaker or the jack it plugs into. You?ll need a multi-meter to test and isolate the fault and a soldering iron and associated tools once you find the fault. Less likely but still possible is the chance that the system amplifier could be at fault.
Before you start tearing into your speaker remember that doing anything will void your warranty. I strongly suggest that you simply return the unit to the reseller you got this from noting that it was defective upon receipt.
