Looking at a picture of the speaker unit, I see a micro-USB connector labeled "AUX." I'd bet if you plugged that into a live USB port (with the device on the other end powered up) or a USB charger, that would do it.
Just search google shopping for your battery, or ebay, just make sure you read the details, and choose wisely so you don't get scammed off ebay. I buy a lot of stuff off there with most all being good purchases, but there are scammer's everywhere anymore.
Did this just start happening, did it work before or is this a new charger, is it an AT&T charger or a 3rd party charger? You need to provide more info, but the most common cause of the problem you report is that the phone thinks you have a SYNC USB cable attached, not a CHARGE USB cable. This is a problem with many phones and can often be solved with a mini-USB-B to mini-USB-A adapter. This is often supplied, usually as a right angle adapter in universal charger kits.
