AFS stands for air flow switch meaning the heater doesn't know if the fan is working. If the fan doesn't turn on, replace the fan. If the fan turns on, replace the tubing to the air flow switch and check the wires to the air flow switch.

Testimonial: "The fan is working and the switch itself has been replaced but the same AFS light fault keeps appearing. Could it be the capacitor in the fan motor?"

SOURCE: Pool heater will not heat

Im no pro, but I know there is an air sensor behind the main board. If the fan is running you probably have a problem with that sensor. If your lucky the air hose could have just popped off.

SOURCE: Pentair Minimax NT 400 heater. fan keeps coming

Sounds like the controller is the problem. This is the circuit board that has the display and controls on it. You can swing that panel open and try tapping on the white plastic cover the controller is under that. This might get the fan relay to release but you will have to replace the controller it will stick again

SOURCE: We have a Pentair 400 heater. First time to heat

You probally just need to increase your water flow. On the pipes going to the heater their should be a valve bridging the inlet and outlet pipes. This valve should be closed about 80-90% so it forces more water through the heater. I hope this helps.

You should not have any gas at the union until the heater tries to fire. The Air Flow Switch circuit should have 24 volts at the switch and should be tested. If the voltage is not correct then more trouble shooting will need to be done.
