SOURCE: jenn air refrigerator temp gauge problem

Hi again,

In your particular model I believe it is termed as "MaxCool". It is also possible that the sensor for the refrigerator is covered by a food item and therefore was getting erroneous readings hence cutting off early (making the temp go higher than normal). Based on this, you can try switching the food items around relocating them as to how they were placed inside. Incidentally, frequent opening and closing of the refrigerator of course would be exposing the inside to warmer air making the unit work harder.

The reset requires that the unit be unplug for an hour or more hence my suggestion during the Live Session to make use of a second refrigerator while checking out the Jenn Air.

SOURCE: Kenmore Elite bottom freezer refridgerator

I just went through this with my refridgerator and actually posted one of the questions. Here is what I found ........

In the freezer compartment behind the panel there is an evaporator fan which pulls cold air from the freezer and pushes it up into the refrridgerator compartment. If the fan is not working it is one of three things.. 1) there is so much frost in the fan area the fan blade is stopped and cannot push the cold air into the refridgerator compartment or the air channel is blocked. 2) there is no electricity going to the fan (usually tied to the door switch of the refirdgerator compartment, and 3) the motor is dead and will have to be replaced.

Solution to #1 - defrost but there is another problem in the "frost-free" part of the system which must be addressed or the frost will return and it will happen again in the future.

Solution #2 - check to see there is power to the fan. (most are 110VAC but some are 100VDC. Use a meter and check)

Solution #3 - If there is power, the motor is dead. Replace the motor. Be aware that AC and DC motors are different and replace per manufacture's specifications.

SOURCE: I have a Kitchenaide side by side refrigerator thats not cooling.

Check the coils underneath the fridge. Check the coils in back if accessible. Clean the coils if covered in excessive dust it may help. Make sure the vent on fridge side isn't blocked or plugged.

Turn up the temp on a samsung side by side, lower drawer model, with digital display . touching the "Refig " button ( also marked as quick cool ) only sends temp down. how do we incr. to 37

Are you trying to get the freezer temp down or the refrigerator temp? If it's the refrigerator, Samsung might have a cutoff of 37 degrees to keep you from getting the temp to low and icing over your coil

Push and hold power freeze and power cool simultaneously until display flashes. Release and leave alone. You just reset the brain on your display. In an hour or so, reset the desired freezer and refrigerator temps. My suggestion, -6 on freezer, 44 on refrigerator.

You have either a sealed system problem or a control board problem. It's difficult to know which is which. You will need a qualified technician to determine what the problem is.

Just bought a tent trailer with a Dometic Fridge.

You need to make sure that you follow the manufacturer's recommendations for using the unit with each specific power source. It's important that you have the all switches in the proper position, based on what power source you're using.

Here's the manual for your model, save a copy and print it out and take some time to review the section #3 Operating Instructions on page 6.

RS21 DCNS FRIDGE COOLING FAULT

There is a fan behind the plastic. This distributes the cold air throughout the fridge. What happens is this fan stops turning due to freezing up. A temp solution is to unplug the samsung for 6-12 hours to allow the ice to melt from around the fan. This is a known design fault. It is easy to dismantle the plastic cover and defrost the frozen fan with a hair dryer, this way the fridge will only be off for about an hour
