On the tv there should be an audio out plug.hole.
On the Audio bar there should be an audio in plug hole.
Find the cable that goes between the tv and the Audio bar and plug it in.

Geoff

SOURCE: I plug in headphones, but sound still comes out of TV speakers

This information was found on the Dynex website: (http://www.dynexproducts.com/pc-680-23-dynex-32-720p-flat-panel-lcd-hdtv-matte-black.aspx) in the frequently asked question section on page 7. If the solution below dos not work for you. You can either go to the website by copying the web address and putting it in your address bar. Once there you can use the e-mail function to talk to customer support. You can also use the Dynex customer support telephone number 1-800-305-2204 between the hours of 7am and 12 am CST. Give them the model number of your television and the problem you are having with the use of the headphones. I hope this information helps you solve your problem. How do I get headphones to work with my TV? o Connect the headphone cable to the headphone jack on the side of your TV. o The sound will be heard through both the headphones and on the TV speakers. o Press Mute to hear sound only through the headphones. o Use the volume buttons on the remote to adjust the volume level. o You must remember to press mute again to hear sound through speakers. It will not automatically come on when you unplug the headphones.

The Way Im understanding your problem is,
it seems like you need to hook your rcas directly to the tv and switch the surround to aux or something similar to that.

SOURCE: I have a Samsung sound

There is usually and option in the tvs audio menu to enable only an external speaker output. On the remote for the soundbar, at the very bottom-- there are buttons to fine tune the audio-video syncing

You should be using 2 audio jacks. Not one. Its normal if audio is cut from tv speaker when connection is made. Use a 2nd pair of speakers from your stereo if u want additional sound.

Go into your settings and make sure that in the audio section that you have sound coming out the sound bar or tv or both... basically just make sure that your sound n speakers are turned on in the settings before you do anything else listed... sometimes the sound bar will change the settings when you first initially hook it up

How do I get operating instructions for this sound bar

1. Plug it into a power outlet and turn it on.
2. Put 2 AAA batteries in the remote control.
3. Dock your iPod or iPhone into the docking connector.
4. You can hook up the sound bar to your PC (from the RCA(L/R) audio output on your TV to the RCA audio input on the bar) or to your PC (from the headphone jack on the PC to the LINE IN jack on the bar). Obviously, you can hook it up to both TV AND PC only if those two are located close to each other.
5. Using the remote, select the audio source/input you want to listen to: iPod/iPhone, FM Radio (an FM tuner is built into the sound bar), TV or PC.

Hope this helps.

Tv soundbar with a 5.1 receiver

The Onkyo has a center channel pre-out that you can connect the sound bar to. How does the sound bar connect to the TV? Is it two rca jacks, 1 red and 1 white or black? What brand and model is the sound bar?

INSIGNIA TV WITH ILIVE BAR. 1 SIDE WORKS

Try swapping your cables from the sound-bar to the TV. If the sound still only plays through one channel but the channel has changed from right to left or vice-versa, then you have a bad cable.

If the performance is the same, connect a different device using the same cables to see if it's the sound bar input or the TV output.

Once you know where the problem is (the sound bar, the TV, or the cables) you'll know what unit needs repair or replacement.

It is entirely possible that a solder joint for the sound-bar has come loose. A soldering pen would easilly fix this if it's a bad joint/connection.

Hope this helps!

Go into the "menu" of the Panasonic TV toggle down to Audio and speakers and turn them "off" this turns on the monitor output from the preamp section. If you still have an issue, post a comment and I'll walk you thru troubleshooting. Hope this helps

I have a 50 inch viera plasma tv and just got a 1200 watt home theatre system product number SC-PT960 and have absolutely no idea how to hook it up properly. The instructions in the book are confusing me...

Assuming the TV is up and working on its own, here's the simplest approach:

Find the the Audio Out from the TV - either an optical connection or a dual RCA Cable (probably came with the TV) and connect that to an Input on the home theatre receiver. You'll need the right cable depending on whether RCA or Optical. That gets you Surround Sound into the Receiver.
Then, connect a cable from each speaker to the marked terminals on the back of the receiver -- Front L/R, Rear L/R, Center, Subwoofer, etc.

Check out your speaker connections by trying a radio station - should play through the front speakers OK. Then switch to the input you connected the TV into. Once you get the TV Audio playing through the receiver, you can go to your TV setup screen and turn off the internal speakers on the TV.
Hope this is enough to get you going.
