Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. https://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

which caps did you replace? As the normal repair for the first generation dlp is to replace the (4) 1000 uf caps. the (2) 2200 uf caps and the (2) 3300uf caps on the power pwb when you get the 34 error code.

SOURCE: flashing status light

Wow I may have just fixed the flashy yellow status light problem. It's so siple yet so difficult. Looking at the front of your T.V. on the left hand side bottm there is a door for a filter. SMACK IT. if the door isn't shut all the way that status light will flash. Mine is turning on now, just have to work on the major problem now :) Hope you have the same simple problem.

SOURCE: Mitsubishi WD-73732 TV

It could be a bad lamp but I've run into many of these TVs with bad color wheel assemblies. Also, if you are getting a dialog box coming up with these words," airflow blocked, TV will shutdown ..." that's a defective thermal fuse.

This is a job for a mitsubishi authorized service center. A tech can disassemble the light engine and confirm that the wheel is the problem. If you're still in warranty, great. If you're only recently out of warranty, call mitsubishi for assistance. Remember that persistance pays off when dealing with large corporations. You very seldom get what you're looking for on the first call or from the first person you speak to.

TV turned off by itself one day. I pressed reset, timer light blinked green for a minute, then I pressed power and it sounded like it wanted to boot up, but nothing happened and the status light turn

Two thoughts:

First is this is a DLP set and the lamp may have failed

Second is it should have the self check which reads error codes---most of these sets that is the same:

" After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
(then release both)

The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.
For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.
Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:
12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected
This is for a earlier Mitsubishi DLP but should be the same as your set as Mitsubishi rarely changes things like this.
If you get the lamp abnormal it is likely your problem.

Hi, have you replaced the lamp after 2-3 yrs of usage? The lamps used by mitsubishi tend to last around 4000 hrs 1-3 yrs.It is common for the green light to light up.Other common failures are the ballast which is the board that powers the lamp.Also check if its not overheatin, dust out the fans.Heres where u can get the lamp or ballast http://www.discount-merchant.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=wd-52631

Blinking green status light

Unplug for a few minutes then plug back in to try to reset it. Sometimes it could take as long as overnight before pluging back in to reset. Number of blinks is usually a trouble code.
