Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose connection on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part (such as a shorted diode)

If it's a bad magnetron and your unit is within the magnetron portion of the warranty (usually 5-9 years) but out of the original full warranty (usually 1 year), then your manufacturer will cover the part cost, but not the cost to visit you or the labor charge to do the work.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

SOURCE: My GE spacemaker microwave won't heat and makes an unusual sound

I have the same problem on my oven- model JVM1640WB and called an appliance repairman who is honest and reliable (I've used him before). He said the problem is with the electrode, to fix it is roughly $300. He recommended buying a new microwave rather than fixing it.

My Oster microwave only allows me to use it by pressing one button. After the microwave stops, none of the buttons will work on it again until I unplug it and repeat the process.

The issue you are describing with your Oster microwave, where it only allows you to use it by pressing one button and then none of the buttons work again until the microwave is unplugged, could be caused by a few different issues. Here are a few things you can check:
  1. Check the control panel: Make sure that the control panel is not damaged or malfunctioning.
  2. Check the circuit board: The control board may be malfunctioning, which can prevent the buttons from working properly.
  3. Check the door switch: Make sure that the door switch is working properly. If the door switch is not working properly, the microwave may not function properly.
  4. Check the touchpad: Make sure that the touchpad is not damaged or malfunctioning.
  5. Check the power supply: Make sure that the power supply is providing the correct voltage and that it is not damaged.
  6. Check the fuses: Check for any blown fuses, replace them if necessary.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, I would recommend contacting the Oster's customer support for further assistance. They may be able to provide additional troubleshooting steps or may recommend a qualified technician to repair the unit.

Microwave is making a noise

If your microwave is making an unusual or loud humming noise, you may have a problem with the magnetron. This component is part of the high voltage circuit and provides the microwaves that generate the heat. If the magnetron is defective, it may cause a loud humming or buzzing noise.

Microwave makes noise when on

All microwaves make some noise when running. Cooling fans, exhaust fans, turntable motor, transformer, and magnetron all make noise. I assume you mean some unusual noise. I need to know more about what kind of noise it is - a loud roar, a rattling sound, a high-pitch squealing sound, a "clunk-clunk" sound or what? By the way, a "klunk-klunk" sound is frequently caused by small debris stuck to the wheels of the turntable support tray. Try cleaning those wheels and the track they roll in.

Oster OM1202E0VG 1.2 Cu.Ft. buzzing and light blinking..I just got it 6 months ago what is wrong with it?

Yes! it sounds from your description you have a short in the system, the problem is caused by the inverter board or the magnetron, I suggest returning the unit because the alternative is a huge expence.

My microwave makes a loud humming noise when it is turned on.

May as well use the microwave as is until it terminates naturally. All microwave ovens buzz, that nothing unusual, but although you can replace a Magnetron, the cost is unusually high. By the time you take the oven down, open the case and fuss around, perhaps not making things any better; the fact is; a new replacement with a warranty is just over $100. Why bother?

Oster Model # OM1101NOE, As others have asked, is there a way to decrease the volume or disable the beep?

This may not be the best solution but I have had a really bad experience with the loudness of the Oster. My girls get up at 5 am to get ready for school and the constant beeping of the pad and the finish bell was soooo disturbing. So I took off the front panel with the number pad and took a screwdriver and poked a hole in the speaker......viola!! NO noise!!! works like a charm
