First make sure there is power in the socket you are plugging the unit into. If that's OK and the unit has been plugged in then 1) Disconnect the TV from the power by unplugging it from the wall socket. 2) Wait 20 minutes and then plug it back in. 3) Turn it on and see what happens.

I've seen a number of LCD TVs some back to life if these three steps are taken. It allows the TV to reboot itself after all internal capacitors are discharged.

Do you have any flashing indicator lights on the remote? If you don't you can verify your remote is sending IR signals by pointing a cell phone camera at the front of the remote and viewing through your cell phone screen while holding down a button on the remote. You should see the flashing IR light on your cell phone screen. If you do not see the flashing light either the batteries are no good, or the remote is not getting power due to a problem with the circuit board.
