Well those notebooks stink, they are cheap and for cheap you get only this tiny space. and fills up fast with apps and data

25GB is way way too small.

There might be a hidden file(s) on the drive that are taking up that space. Open the drive in My Computer, click Tools > Folder Options... On the View tab, click Show hidden files and folders. Then check the drive to see if any hidden files or folders are present.

You can also try formatting the drive. Right click the drive in My Computer and click Format...

I don't believe that there is much else you can do but before i say that try using a 4GB sd card, think they can handle that. These units have a certain amount of memory reserved for system use and they will allow nothing else to use it. In the event that something does use it you get the "not enough memory to run program, Shutting down" error. Always fun

SOURCE: Hello Sir I have Dell Inspiron

Long boot times are usually caused by start-up programs running in the background as the computer first starts up.
You can disable certain programs starting up with the computer so the operating system loads that little faster.

Click on the Start Menu (Orb) and in the search box type msconfig and hit enter. A system configuration window will pop up. Click on the Startup tab and look down the list of programs for ones that you don't want starting up with the computer. Be careful not un-check any antivirus or the Microsoft Operating system. Click Apply and then OK.
You will be asked to restart the computer so the changes can take effect. Do that and see if the computer is booting into Windows any faster.

I would also recommend that you de-fragment your hard drive by clicking on the Start Menu and in the search box type defrag, look in the list for Defragment your hard drive and click on that. Follow the instructions to defrag the drive.

If you would like to know anything else please post back.

Acer chrome book white screen

The Acer Chromebook may boot to a white screen with the Chrome logo due to a recent update. At this state, the Chromebook downloads and installs the update, and then boots normally within 30-40 minutes.
If there is no updating process going on and the Chromebook boots to a white screen, the following steps should help you resolve the issue. Keep a 4 GB USB flash drive and a computer connected to the internet ready.
  • Press and hold the Esc and Refresh (F3) Keys. Simultaneously press the power button. The Chromebook boots to the Developer mode.
  • Note down the model number displayed at the bottom of the screen.
  • Insert the USB Recovery Flash Drive into your Chromebook.
  • Wait for about 10 minutes while the system recovers from the USB flash drive.
  • Disconnect the USB flash driver once the recovery is complete. The Chromebook restarts automatically.
  • Follow the prompts on the Welcome screen.

How to connect a usb2.0 external drive on a acer c710

Hello Charlie,
A common external drive needs to be formatted to a file system that is supported by your computers operating system to be recognized.

If you are running windows you can use the Disk Management tool.

Both in Windows 7 and Windows 8, opening the Computer Management is done from the Control Panel. Go to System and Security -> Administrative Tools and double click on its shortcut.
The Storage section contains only the Disk Management tool.

I'm only getting 746 gb out of a new 3 tb internal hard drive

I can think of three possibilities:
  • It was pre-partitioned to that size, and more memory is available for another partiton (or to be added to that one).
  • You accidentally partitioned it to that size when you formatted it.
  • The hd isn't the size you thought.
You can right-click "Computer", click Manage, click left of "Storage" to expand, click "Disk Management". It should show you Disk 0 which is usually your C: drive, what percentage was used, then whether un-formatted/partitioned hd space is available.

I am getting a warning about insufficient dik space on my Archos 101 16 GB running on Froyo, but when I go to configuration, it reads 14 gb of free space. Any advice on how to manage and optimize disk...

That system warning relates to available application space. For some reason Archos only devoted ~128 MB for applications, so you can fill that up pretty fast. You'll need to:
uninstall applications (settings, Applications, Manage Applications, then select and uninstall some)
move some applications to "internal storage", this transfers some of the space they're taking to the internal storage on your Archos. Again you'll go to Settings, Applications, then Manage Applications. From the list of applications select some of the larger ones and you may see a "move to internal storage" option. Some apps have this, some don't.

I have a SAMSUNG HM320JI (320GB). After loading Windows XP Proffesional, I found that the C Drive only has 116 GB assigned t it and the hard disk proerties (in Device Manager) shows 117 GB in "Unallocated...

To increase the capacity of formatted disk space on your computer, you will need to go to Disk Management. This can be found under the Control Panel, Administrative Tools, and Computer Management. Under the Control Panel's category view, Administrative Tools can be found under Performance and Maintenance.

On the left pane, you will see several options. Disk Management is available under Storage. You will definitely be able to format your unpartitioned space here. However, you may or may not be able to expand your C Drive space with this option, it may end up becoming a D Drive, or another letter of your choosing.

If this does not work to extend your C Drive space and adding a second drive letter is not an option for you, you can either reformat to receive the entire available disk space, or, if you prefer, there is commercial (such as Partition Magic), and potentially free, software available to perform this.

Please let me know if I can be of any additional help. Thanks!
