An on-screen display (OSD) is a control panel on a computer monitor or television screen that allows you to select viewing options and/or adjust components of the display, such as brightness, contrast, and horizontal and vertical positioning. On a computer monitor, an on-screen display is usually activated by buttons on the bottom of the monitor.

I got the same problem, I'm going to return it to the store today...

This is just a guess, but it's an LCD projector, it's possible the LCD itself is going bad. It's common for LCD panels to develop vertical lines when they are failing.
Just an idea,

i think the main board is flaky in that monitor. Hook up another known good monitor to that computer and see if it behaves in the same way.
If it does behave in the same way then you know its either the video card or the motherboard if you have an integrated video connector to the motherboard.
If it goes away then you know the phillips monitor is bad.
If its the phillips monitor that is bad for sure. You can try taking off the front cover and try cleaning the contacts on the main board in the front of the monitor. Could be that a few of them have dust or dirt and is activating those buttons by accidents inadvertently.
I have dual AOC i2553ph monitors. One day I came into work and notice one of them had a single vertical white line moving slowly back and forth across the screen that looked like a scan or radar function. I reset the monitor from the OSD and all is well again. Use "Extra > reset" from the OSD on AOC monitors.
