This is regarding a Zodiac G3 swimming pool vacuum: the cassette keeps unscrewing on its' own, almost daily. The threads to not look worn so I don't know what's causing this.

I already tried plumber's tape and that did not fix the problem.

Try using plumber tape on the G3 where it screws together. That fixed mine from coming apart.

SOURCE: zodiac barracuda G3 isn't pulsing

These cleaners have a diaphragm inside that opens and closes that causes the unit to travel. If the diaphragm is bad, it will just stay still. Right above the handle there is a nut, separate the top part of the cleaner and you should see a white tube. Push that white tube downward and pull it out of the bottom of the unit. You should see the rubber diaphragm, check to see that it is free of debris and if it is distorted. The opening inside the diaphragm should look like a fairly uniform ****, not a huge gap. If it looks like there is a large opening inside, replacing it will make it run like new. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: My zodiac g3 does not cover the entire swimming

One of the most common problems with these pool cleaners is the hose. If the hose is not long enough, it will not cover the entire pool. You might need additional hose. Also, make sure that your hose is weighted correctly and the water pressure is correct.

SOURCE: Swimming pool Hayworth s240 sand filter suction is wimpy can it be old sand causing the problem?

The filter may be clogged. If you have a multi-port valve that you use to backwash, set it to "recirculate" and see if your suction improves. If it does then the filter needs to be cleaned out. If there is no difference the issue may be a clogged impeller or some restriction in the suction line. Has the pressure been running high?

Barracuda head keeps coming unscrewed from hose

Try wrapping white plumbers tape around the threads 3 or 4 times and then screw back together. That worked wonders for me when i had that problem.

It moves about 1 ft. (if any) and then stops! I've checked for clogs, etc. I rent this house and owner knows less than I do!! Thank you!

If I were in your shoes, I would get permission from the owner to call a pool professional in to look at the pool in general and the device in particular. There is a lot to know about running a pool beside the swimming part. Water chemistry is crucial. You must do something to the pool on a daily basis. If you don't know what, you need to learn and your pool service company can teach you in a short amount of time.

Moving intermittently

Check for the following problems with these pool cleaners. Check diaphragm for blockage or damage. Adjust a worn diaphragm by loosening cassette swivel, gently pushing down on inner pipe, and retightening cassette swivel. You will probably need to replace the diaphragm if that doesn't work.

Zodiac G3 stopped traveling even though there is good suction.

There are several things that you can check on these pool cleaners if you are sure that the suction is not a problem. Normally, I would start by suggesting you check for blockages and obstructions in the cleaner, filter, and skimmer. However, if you are getting the correct suction, this shouldn't be a problem. I would also check the diaphragm for damage. To adjust a worn diaphragm, loosen the cassette swivel, gently push down on the the inner pipe, and retighten the cassette swivel. Check all hose sections for leaks by lifting each section above water.
