Well...it's a Dell and even when it's well...it's still a Dell. Have you tried the monitor on different system to eliminate the tower being the problem? Some have updated and/or rolled back drivers to help cure this problem, which seems to be a common issue with this LCD. Personally i think the contrast ratio is inadequate. there may 2 problems 1 ) Problem with the Data Cable connector the Pins might be damaged try to arrange them if disturbed / bend . if Broken change the connector. 2) Open the monitor see the soldering carefully you can locate out the dry solders easily by seeing the flux colour around it . just put the solder over there..by soldering gun to all places where u can see the dry solder.
