Usually three main problems: 1. The batteries but you already checked that. 2. Programming code has to be re-entered, that is, if you have the instruction booklet . #. What I had to deal more often with is the keypads inside the unit get all "gunked up" and the remote can be opened, the keypads can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol. Also the circuit board where the pads make contact can be wiped dry and you can use a soft eraser to clean the surface. Hope this helps.
