SOURCE: background sound too loud
Check the audio settings. You might need to reduce the surround sound effect or increase the Center (dialogue)
SOURCE: Stereo Sound
You could start by adjusting the Treble and Bass. The treble is what makes the high notes more nodicable, so if you turn the Treble up you should be able to hear more vocals. The Bass is what makes the low notes more nodicable, so if you turn the bass down you should be able to stop the shaking which I'm guessing is the low notes. On the other hand if you have an aftermarket radio then there might be a Mute or ATT button. Theses are for instant quiet, just repress the Mute or ATT button and it should be fine. I hope I could help.

This usually happens on home burnt DVD's
It is the format in which it was recorded that is at fault.
There is little you could do but re-encode the whole thing before you burn it.
Turn off or try the different surround options whilst it is playing.
If it does this with commecial DVD's then you may have set the surround setting by accident to somthing else.
I had a similar problem

SOURCE: When I use the headphones listening to TV, I get
It's because the TV's audio is stereo and the dialogue is mono split between two channels. When dialogue hits your headphones the majority of the mono signal gets cancelled. Try a different set of headphones or watch true stereo channels... IE movie channels
